Hello again, While I am playing golf at the Mojave. The dear wife would like to visit the AVI. Can anyone tell me how the Keno machines are? Do they have the game king with all the variations of Keno on them. She likes the super way and super keno. Don%26#39;t ask me why she likes them....LOL

Thanks

Keno at the AVI

Yes. The they do have the Game King machines. They are next to the Poker tables in the center of hte casino.

The 5and 25 cent Keno machines are loacated at the South part of the casino. Been there last month, won $100. om the 5 cent machines, Mom won$400, onthe 25 cent machines. They were hitting o.k.

Be tehre 4th of July weekend.

Hey good luck golfing and the wife palying theose machines.

Hard rock hotel

I am going to see Mark Knopfler at the Hard Rock Hotel and was wondering was there a lounge or club in the hotel that caters to the over 40 crowd.

Checked the website and could not see anything .

If not I will just cab it back to the strip.

Thanks in advance

Hard rock hotel

In a word NO.

The hotel caters to a younger crowd. Its a young, hip, beautiful people place. That said unless you are a fanny pack wearing, sandals and socks, no name brand clothes type person you will do just fine.

Hard rock hotel

FT~ Sort of a mixed crowd in the casino during the day. Becomes a MUCH younger crowd the later it gets.

Goodbeer I can dress with the best of them .

However the thoughts of being seen as a lecherous old man eyeing 20 something girls puts me off.

I might stay for an hour and see how I get on .

Thanks for the heads up.

';However the thoughts of being seen as a lecherous old man eyeing 20 something girls puts me off.';

come on now, what wrong with that? lol

Nothing wrong with being a lecherous old man ,but it%26#39;s being caught out that worries me ......lol

Cheap Airlines to Las Vegas

Hi,

Could you please tell me who are the cheapest airlines who fly from LAX to Vegas?

We are arrive Air Pacific: Arrival: 13:20 Los Angeles, USA - Los Angeles International, terminal B

Thanks

Cheap Airlines to Las Vegas

Southwest are normally cheap.

We paid $54 p.p one way last year.

Cheap Airlines to Las Vegas

I agree that Southwest is probably your best bet but last year%26#39;s fares are generally in the very distant past now. Current oil prices mean you%26#39;ll likely pay a lot more.

http://www.southwest.com/

Southwest no doubt all other ailines are hiking fees or reducing flights to Vegas.

Any 30-somethings have recommendations?

Going to Vegas with friends in August... LOVE to party, but don%26#39;t want to be out of our element. Any suggestions for me and my thirty-something crew?

Any 30-somethings have recommendations?

Check out the open bar package for the Voodoo lounge on Vegas.com.

Any 30-somethings have recommendations?

Studio 54... you%26#39;ll have a blast!

If your crew is into hip-hop, house and other types of dance music, you%26#39;ll probably fit into most any of the ';hot'; clubs just fine. Heed the ';rules'; that can be found on places like www.jackcolton.com to minimize your wait and maximize your fun.

If you don%26#39;t want to spend a whole lot of time and resources, then I%26#39;d suggest any casino lounge or center bar with live music as well as places like:

Carnaval Court @ Harrah%26#39;s;

Cleopatra%26#39;s Barge @ Caesars;

Polly Esther%26#39;s @ Stratosphere;

Piano Bars @ NYNY, Harrah%26#39;s and Paris.

we recently went to moon/playboy club at the palms, and it seem to have a good mix of people. then again, it was dark and we could%26#39;ve just thought we fit in. voodoo lounge is also nice and so was the revolution lounge in the mirage.

I%26#39;ve been to Vegas several times, but always for business. This one%26#39;s for pleasure! I did have the chance to go to Cleopatra%26#39;s Barge once before. They had a great band playing and it was a fun night. Thanks for all the suggestions... can%26#39;t wait to try them all. I especially like the sound of ';open bar';. They could be sorry! :)

When exactly will you be there? DH %26amp; I, 32 %26amp; 34, will be there 8/22-8/27.

The only ';nightclub'; we%26#39;ve been to was Rumjungle %26amp; we didn%26#39;t love it, so we%26#39;re always on the lookout for different places too. We did like House of Blues, because it was 80%26#39;s night when we were there, lol! This time we%26#39;re going to try Polly Esthers %26amp; VooDoo Lounge for sure.

Blue Martini at Town Square is the hottest place right now. It%26#39;s not as touristy but still close to the strip. The place is the bomb.

We%26#39;re going 8/17-8/22. Summer is the only season that I haven%26#39;t experienced in Vegas. I%26#39;ve been to LV several times, but I%26#39;m going to be with a first-timer and the other two have only been once (not with me). I%26#39;ve heard several things about the Blue Martini... guess that%26#39;s getting added to the list. Also heard a lot of good things about Polly Esther%26#39;s... except for how out of the way it is. We%26#39;re planning on seeing the show ';Bite'; at the Stratosphere, so we%26#39;re going to check out Polly%26#39;s while we%26#39;re there.

  • Dollar rent a car

i think i rented with hertz and got to chose my car from the section i ordered. Does anyone know if Dollar car rental pre-assign cars or u get to chose your car in the garage?

i booked a lock low and go.. the site says i%26#39;m guaranteed at least an intermediate. The website does not specify what an intermediate is.. price i lock is equivelent to a mid-size, can anyone confirm from experience?

    Dollar rent a car

We have rented with them a couple times over the last year....Both times econonmy..Both times they did not have economy. So they just had us choose from what they had.....Which was better than economy....We chose a mustang and a Pacifica. So yes you do choose but maybe better than intermediate class if your lucky..

    Dollar rent a car

I love Dollar at Vegas airport. I%26#39;ve used them for over 8 years now. I%26#39;m also a Hertz President%26#39;s Club member and use Hertz for business and at most other locations. But in Vegas I%26#39;m loyal to Dollar.

My last 2 trips to Vegas I used lock low %26#39;n go rates, they are AWESOME. I once got a Subaru, then I got a Dodge Stratus, and then I got a PT Cruiser. Yes, they let you choose from a section, usually the ';mid-size'; section which is typically stocked with PT Cruisers and Dodge Stratuses (and that new Dodge, whatever it is). You sometimes will see nothing but the same kind of car, other times you%26#39;ll see a mix. My first time with that rate they allowed me to choose a Mini-van if I wanted. Whatever they have too much of they will offer. But you will definitely get at least a ';midsize'; car for that rate, and it%26#39;s possible you get a larger one. Even if you get midsize, the lock low rate is lower than the midsize rate, plus you get that possibility of an upgrade. Either way, though, you choose out of a section. The section just is not as big or varied as Hertz%26#39;s usually is.

Of course, if they%26#39;ve changed anything since March, then I could be wrong, but I doubt it...they%26#39;ve been doing it this way for the 8 years or so I%26#39;ve been renting from them.

Stick w/ the lock low and go rate.

    great info johnny.

i think u are right.. i will be in on sat night.. i figure most cars will be gone and limited choice.. i was wondering if they will upgrade me to full size rather than pick from 2-3 cars.. how was the stratus by the way? i want a car with power and good A/C.. it will be hot this weekend..

i think they%26#39;re gonna keep me at a mid-size.. price as u said was about the same..maybe $1-2 less a day for lock low and go..

i think there are signs from the aiport to the car rental shuttle if i remember correctly..correct?

We picked up our car at Bellagio and could not chose. We had booked a luxury car and got a Pasifica... it was nothing wrong with the car but I don%26#39;t know if I would consider it to be ';luxury';!?

My Lock Low %26amp; Go got me a Chrysler 300.

Nice ride except going up big hills. That%26#39;s a lot of weight it%26#39;s hauling around! Gas milage was around 24 mpg. I was pleased.

i%26#39;m getting my car at the airport.. maybe it would;ve been better to get at hotel.. but then u would have to pay for taxi lol..

crysler 300..is that a mid size car?

besides, pt cruiser, ford strattus, crysler 300?.. what other cars are considered mid size?

i like big car.. so i won%26#39;t mind an suv or something bigger ;)

Ive found this thread very interesting as im thinking about maybe renting a car for a few days in vegas and saw that lock low and go deal but thought they wouldnt really offer a high level car for less money but this site never ceases to impress me and here i have my answer lol

The only annoying thing is that Dollars UK site doesnt allow you to chose that option....you infact chose the very car you want, doesnt ask you for options like compact, lux, standard.

Quick question too....how big is the pool of cars car rental companies have at the hotels? Im thinking if you do that lock low deal its best picking up from airport if you get a choice?

Also can anyone tell me if Dollar and Thrifty are the same company as they are the same website over here and offer exact same prices

Mulder, yes, Dollar and Thrifty have merged and are now one company. Also, if you are renting from dollar, go to their website and sign up for the xpress service, you will avoid long lines at the rental site.

I would recommend renting a car while in LV. We rented a mid-size for $76 for an entire week. We drove to Hoover Dam, Red Rock, Fremont, and other casinos located off the strip. Cab fare to and from the airport and a couple of other rides will put you over what you can rent a car for.

Either you guys have been lucky or I have been unlucky. The last two times I rented a car in Vegas there were none to choose from and they just brought up cars one at a time that had obviously just been returned (still dripping wet from the car wash).

I did not ask if I could wait to choose something else. I just wanted to get going with whatever was available.

  • Husbands 40th bday next weekend Need Suggestions

Hi, We are heading to vegas next thursday and i wondered if anyone can give me some of their best options for cocktails on friday or saturday night. there are 4 of u going in our late 30%26#39;s. Staying at venetian. I heard Tryst was fun. Is it better to buy a table somewhere? thanks for any help!

Husbands 40th bday next weekend Need Suggestions

    I would recommend checking out

The Bank at Bellagio : …atdmt.com/MGM/…

    Studio 54 at MGM Grand : …atdmt.com/MGM/…

    JET at Mirage : …atdmt.com/MGM/…

depending on the night, you might want to get a table, becasue it does get pretty packed in the bars/clubs at night.

Husbands 40th bday next weekend Need Suggestions

Tryst is very good %26amp; lots of fun %26amp; close to Venetian so it will make it easy to stumble back.

You may also want to consider Risqué at Paris another fun place to go.

Pure at Caesars is great but always long lines %26amp; there you probably need to get a table.

If you are looking for a milder celebration 1 night you may want to check out Margaritaville at Flamingo or the Carnival Court at Harrah%26#39;s.

Have a great celebration for your DH 40th B-Day!!!!

Thanks for the suggestions! i have a reservation at Tryst on friday night for a table.

Damm ,there was me thinking this thread could get very interesting ....ah well j/k

    Getting curious about Luxor

I stayed there in the summer of 06. It wasn%26#39;t bad, but it wasn%26#39;t great. It was very tired- rooms, casinos, restaurants, etc...

I didn%26#39;t give it much thought after that, and only noticed the casino shrink during my last two visits as they began to do some renovations.

I am starting to hear a lot more about it, and I was just on there website, noticing all the new restaurants.

It%26#39;s got me a lot more curious. It%26#39;s obvviously as much a signature property as anything can be. I mean, it%26#39;s not like you have to tell people WHICH pyramid you%26#39;re staying at!

What I haven%26#39;t heard anything about however is room renovations. Has anyone heard anything about when they may start updating the VERY TIRED rooms in the pyramid?

Another nice change would be to see them re-route foot traffic to and from the pool, so it doesn%26#39;t all go through the casino. A very old school system (through the casino to everywhere) that really backfires when dripping wet kids are running through.

    Getting curious about Luxor

If you go to their website and go to comming soon, you can see whast going on..

    here is the link

    …atdmt.com/MGM/…

    Getting curious about Luxor

Yeah, I saw that. It%26#39;s actually what got me intrigued today. But the sticking point to me is still the rooms. I can%26#39;t imagine they are going to pour all this money into renovations and upgrades and leave the same tired rooms. I%26#39;m just wondering when the rooms will start to get some attention.

I called Luxor about 3 weeks ago and asked them and he said they haven%26#39;t been told yet.

I have a feeling it might be at the end of this year. I think they want to finish up with the casino, bars/lounges/nightclubs, and dining/buffet first.

They are getting close to having alot of these things done.

You pay pocket change for those rooms, and most are nice. if you don%26#39;t like your room, ask politely to be moved. The pool, restaurants, and other facilities are major-league, at Super-8 motel pricing.

    Hey mgg!

Are you getting offers from them now? If I remember correctly, your table rating is a LOT higher than mine and they%26#39;re always offering to put me up in the newer Tower at no additional cost. The Luxor is the only Players Club property I know of where $50 a hand for awhile will get a host to your table.

Sorry I don%26#39;t have any additional info on Pyramid room renovations.

I stayed at the Luxor last November and while I booked a pyramid room I asked for a tower room when I checked in because I read some negative posts about the pyramid room. I was very happy with my tower room - no complaints at all. So my advise to be safe is book a tower room.

I%26#39;m getting some offers from them. I haven%26#39;t spent much time in the MGM-Mirage Universe lately, so I think they are feeling a bit unloved. I plan on spending some time there when I head out next week.

I too have heard the Tower Rooms are nicer. But I love the proximity of the pyramid rooms.

I am just looking forward to a renovation of the pyramid, because I think the rooms themself are so unique. And as the continue to revamp the property, I think the appeal of staying there is going to climb.

But right now, the old Egyptian theme in the rooms, the lack of in-room safes in the pyramid, and other such things are keeping the rooms a step below the rest of the property.

I am sure it%26#39;s only a matter of time. And I bet with the creative minds they have renovating rooms in Vegas now, that when they finally get to the pyramid rooms, they are really going to be wild.

    Bingo

Does Laughlin have any place to play bingo?

    Bingo

    riverside and avi

    Bingo

The River Palms has a very large, busy room. My buddies wife won over nine thousand playing one day two weeks ago there.

jeez i forgot that one...iam slipping lol.

I stayed at the river palms one time and decided to have a go at the Bingo Not what its like here in the UK and two ladieswas helping me out so i didnt mark wrong and one of the staff came over shouted at me in front of everyone then throw my coupon away Yes i felt really small and sorry for the two ladies as they also got a telling off...I complained but nothing was done so cut short my stay there and decided neaver to return. The Riverside is okay and they were really nice very helpful, Good luck and hope you win.

Try the Riverside hotel and AVi%26#39;s. Avo%26#39;s is pretty good. Nice people there.

Typo on the last reply. That%26#39;s Avi%26#39;s Casino where there%26#39;s good Bingo. (darn computer)

We played Bingo a few times at the Riverside when we were there last week. Wow, we hadn%26#39;t played since we were kids, and you really have to concentrate and keep up with all the different types of Bingo%26#39;s and all the different cards. We didn%26#39;t win, but still had fun, and it is a nice break from the other types of gambling.

There is a smoking side and a non-smoking side in the same room, so sit a little farther toward the middle of the non-smoking if you want to avoid the smoke.

    Have fun and good luck!

I have to comment on a typo I made in my last post, or it will drive me nuts. As a retired teacher, I know that I shouldn%26#39;t have stuck that apostrophe in Bingos, but guess I was typing too fast. Wish we had an ';edit'; feature, so I could fix it!!!

    just type lazy like me.....use no caps.....seperate everything with....... lol bingo is %26#39;

    4th of July...Live Music

About 10 of us (age:late 20s, early 30s) will be going out to the Edgewater for the 4th of July weekend. Looking for a place where we can hang out, maybe somewhere we can listen to a live band, get some drinks and maybe even dance a bit...any suggestions would be appreciated.

Also, reccomendations to view fireworks... I was out there about 3 years ago and saw the fireworks from a patio restaurant set up in front of the GN. Any other good spots to hang out and see the show?

    4th of July...Live Music

The Edgewater has a dance club called Kokopelli%26#39;s that usually has a live band on weekends. There are several other clubs at the different casinos, check online at The Entertainer here:

    laughlinentertainer.com/articles/鈥?/a>

Also once you are in town you can pick up a free copy at all hotels. Usually near the gift shop or check-in.

They will be having fireworks on the 4th at the usual location on the river with good viewing from anywhere on the Riverwalk.

They will also be having fireworks on the 5th down at the AVI.

    Hope this helps.

    4th of July...Live Music

Hey if you want to dance to top 40/club music the place to go is Tarzan%26#39;s in the Golden Nugget next door to Edgewater. Few weeks ago when I was there it was packed on Saturday night with 20-30 year olds dancing. Great place with a good DJ. Live music early in the night as well but by 9 or 10 it%26#39;s DJ and dancing to at least 2 am later depending on the crowd.

Awesome... Thanks for your help. Greatly appreciated.

cool, we%26#39;ll check Edgewater out this 4th of July.

Avi%26#39;s has pretty good live bands too.

  • just back and noticed ladies dressing up alot more

my wife and i just got back from vegas and while staying at the wynn we noticed alot of ladies really dressing up at night. we are in the over 40 crowd and went to blush night club and it wasnt just the young girls all decked out but it was even the older woman. we went to dinner at sw steakhouse and to their lounge and we were surprised at how many older woman had short dresses and high heels on. when we went over to the mgm on a friday night it was crazy. a good percentage of the ladies were all dressed up. my wife and i have been to vegas alot and really noticed the women really trying to impress whether young or old. im sure many of the older woman dont dress like that at home but i guess they like to feel sexy to and there is no better place to do it than vegas. has anyone else noticed this recently?

just back and noticed ladies dressing up alot more

Thank you Shakeey for letting us know that. My DH and I will be there on a Friday and Saturday night and that is something that is good to know. Now I can plan my wardrobe a little better.

    Thanks again.

just back and noticed ladies dressing up alot more

    As my boyfriend said on our trip last week: ';You can%26#39;t tell the difference between people going to the clubs and the hookers anymore.';

yes we noticed this on our last trip. looks like vegas is turning full circle. back to the adult special place to be and be seen.

I was one of those sexy 40 somethings in my dress bought just for a night in VEGAS. Don%26#39;t know when I%26#39;ll where it here in Maine, but at least I got it for my next trip.

I loved feeling all young and sexy for the evening.

Are you sure they weren%26#39;t hookers? LOL

    Sorry couldn%26#39;t resist :)

I agree. We just got back from Vegas last Tuesday and I noticed many more women ';dressed up';. Many more in fact than just last March. This was evident not only in the hotels/casinos but also just walking on the strip.

Yes, my last trip was with husband, brother, and brother-in-law and they ALL definitely noticed... dresses and skirts have gotten REALLY short.... dressier, too, though.

nice to hear! my wife and I always have one ';dress up night'; for a really high end place to eat. im in a tux and shes in a gown...we always get stopped so others can take pics with us thinking we just got married. its usually good for a few free drinks so I dont complain. :-)

Times are tough.....Houses are not the only thing on the market that need makeovers. Lots of single ladies of all ages dressing to the nines to attract a big payoff....uh, I mean husband.

But seriously, when I was there in February, I noticed the same thing but what I found really interesting where the number of clearly underage girls that were ';dressed to thrill';. I%26#39;m not talking working girls, I%26#39;m talking 17,18,19 year-olds with the breast augmentations, ultra-tight black dresses, 8-inch heels, and fancy hair.

My buddy and I would watch them and they were generally with other like dressed females or other groups, not working the corners. Did see plenty of ';working girls'; but these were different.

    Thank gawd I%26#39;m staying downtown!

    ph rewards card

i am staying at ph in march, and was wondering what benefits a reward card would bring me there. I do the blackjack tables, 4 hours a day, at about $30-$100 dollars a hand. Thanks.

    ph rewards card

The A-list will get you points for slot play but not table play. You should still sign up because that way they can rate you at the tables and you can ask for a comp off your bill when you are done or for food while there.

    ph rewards card

How can this be? Do they really not give you points for table games? Wouldn%26#39;t that mean a strictly table player could never reach gold or platinum rating?

Engineer, yes you can get upgraded to the gold or platinum level if you play table games should your play warrant this. It%26#39;s just that points are strictly for slot play. The way that table play is rated is based upon the information logged by the pit bosses and is completely independent from this.

Interesting. Strange that on PH%26#39;s site it says upgrades are based on points. Do the Pit Bosses assign you points that are different...or just..';here is your new card';? I know that Total Rewards tables give you points. I%26#39;m new to Ph%26#39;s way.

Actually it sounds like its really the same as Total Rewards. You don%26#39;t earn points for say each and every hand you bet at a table game, where as you do for play on slots ($10 coin in for Total Rewards.) What they do for their players is they take what you buy in for, what your average bet is, and based on your theoretical loss for the time you spend there, they then award you points.

That%26#39;s really how most table games are done because its not nearly as easy to track as slots.

This info is accurate, and the reason why you should always talk to the pit boss before you leave he table and ask how he rated you. If you are betting 50 bucks a hand for ten hands, then drop to 25 bucks for one hand, that may be the one he sees, and thus how he rates you. Always ask, it doesn%26#39;t hurt!

One huge benefit of having a card would be the time it takes to get paid for a win. Back in late April, my GF %26amp; I stopped @ PH for a drink while we were touring the strip one day. Instead of paying for a drink we decided to drop $5 each in a quarter slot, thereby getting a free bevvie from the cocktail waitress. Well my GF hit the 5X bonus %26amp; won $6400. As we only intended to stay for a quick drink, we never joined the player%26#39;s club. In any case, it took over 45 minutes to get her payout. The lady who helped us told me the payout would have been much quicker had she been a member. We learned our lesson- always, always, always join the casino%26#39;s player%26#39;s club if you decide to gamble, even if you don%26#39;t intend to stay long!

    Hi sensfantoronto

of the $6400 how much did you actually get! how much tax did you have to pay on that winning and where you able to recover it?

i guess i am an optimist and have grandiose plans of either my wife or i hitting a big jack pot and was just curious how much you lose in tax?

also we are staying at the PH

Wow, thanks for the info guys!

1 day and 1 night in vegas, what would you do????

Eat breakfast at the coffee shop downstairs at Binions (DT).

Gamble at Bills and drink profusely.

Ask for a comp check and actually ask for it before I was hungry.

Eat Lunch (free if I was patient enough to wait).

    More Gambling and profuse drinking.

Back DT for a steak at Hugo%26#39;s Cellar.

Gamble, drink and laugh and stumble into a cab to the airport.

Maybe shows and other stuff if more than a day, but one day? See the above.

Eat a great breakfast first then have fun.

    (1) Head to the Wynn

    (2) In the town car, after I have it run through a McDonald%26#39;s drive-thru

    (3) Wynn

    (4) Probably would skip it, or at the very least grab some toast somewhere.

    (5) Nowhere

    (6) Wynn and if it sucked, then probably Mirage or MGM

    (7) None

    (8) Somewhere new for me - maybe Cut or Stripsteak

    (9) Scribble down my flight information on my chest and tape a $100 bill to my left nipple as I pass out at the bell hop desk.

The first thing I would do is change my flight by at least a day.

would check flights home for the next day as I know I would never make my plane that night.....too much to do and see. too much fun to be had...

BUMP............Anyone have real answers for searclaw??

    Do you

Wow...I would cry! I need at least two nights.. and a full day...and later afternoon flight on Sunday...If I only had one day and night...would gamble my booty off...eat one nice meal...drink, gamble..rinse and repeat. Kind of what I do at the Indian casino%26#39;s here. We arrive late morning ..and grab a bite..gamble all day..and drink...have a great evening meal...and spend some time in the lovely suite...kind of a whirlwind trip...doing it the end of the month with another bff..did it three weeks ago at MOrongo...they keep giving me the suite and an hundred bucks for dinner..comp our other meal too...hard to say no...but last time really cost me..Slotto

  • Allegiant Air makes my life so difficult

I%26#39;ve been waiting for them to open up their fares for December so we could see about getting tickets for the old school mega, and wouldn%26#39;t you know it...they did...but only through Dec. 15! So can get there but can%26#39;t get home, LOL!

Allegiant Air makes my life so difficult

    Warmwinds,

They are making my life difficult too. I think they are trying to be kind but their travel advisory from our area reads like they are iffy about flying from our flood area. I think (hope) it is just that they are trying to be flexible for those who can%26#39;t leave their homes because of the flooding.

I want to go to Vegas! I don%26#39;t want to rebook my flight for a later date. Please, please, please fly me to LV Allegiant.

Allegiant Air makes my life so difficult

Shrinkgirl, you have worse problems than mine, hope all is well with all the terrible weather conditions. When were you supposed to be traveling?

    June 29th. :-%26gt;

And they%26#39;re talking about canceling THIS far ahead?

I think they fly to Cedar Rapids, IA as well. Terrible situation over there. Their downtown is under about 6 feet of water. Even if the airport is open, I wonder how many locals can make it there in a regular car?

Warm-give it another week or two and they%26#39;ll open it up. Because it%26#39;s around Christmas and Vegas is (relatively) dead around then hopefully they%26#39;ll give you a decent fare. They may also be waiting to see where the oil prices are headed before setting a fare. Be prepared for the worst if that%26#39;s the case!

I am going to give them a call to clarify. You should look at the ';Travel Advisory'; tab on the website. It states that flights from June 12 - August 1 can be changed without additional charge to the customer.

It looks like they mean if you are affected by the flood they understand and will rebook you. It just isn%26#39;t too clear so I am feeling like they may just not fly from those airports. I am flying from Rochester, MN. It really isn%26#39;t affected by the floods even though it is listed.

Cedar Rapids and Des Moines are freakin lakes.

Could Allegiant be giving heads-up that they%26#39;re considering cutting back on their schedules? It may have nothing to do with the midwest flooding. United for instance announced today they%26#39;re cutting back their flights overall by ~10%. Retiring all their 737s (which is what Southwest flies) and 10 of their 747s. Airlines are looking to cut costs by reducing flights, increasing load factors, getting into more of a seller%26#39;s market, and putting the squeeze on the leisure traveller. Due to fuel costs of course. All the majors have announced significant cutbacks in flights (USAir something like a 40% reduction in flights to Vegas alone), more to come.

I do not find a TAB about Travel Advisory on Allegiant. I do use the Bismarck option for selecting the flight calendar. So I%26#39;m thinking it%26#39;s your area.

I checked Cedar Rapids and it showed NO flights in June.

    Malebird

I saw the advisories right on the Allegiant home page, before you even click on your own city. It was on the left side, almost below my screen level.

    And now today it%26#39;s gone!

Bills Gamblin Hall & Saloon Question - ok for Kids ?

I will be in Vegas for a night and a day. I really like the price of Bill%26#39;s and location. Do you think this is an ok hotel for a 9 year old child to stay for 1 night...if we are in early? I feel silly asking this question, but just want to make sure this is not a place known for a rough crowd to hang out at......Thanks for your help!!

Bills Gamblin Hall %26amp; Saloon Question - ok for Kids ?

I%26#39;ve stayed at Bill%26#39;s and can assure you that the clientele are far from ';rough';!

It%26#39;s certainly nowhere near the best hotel on the Strip for a 9 year old, in fact there%26#39;s nothing at all there aimed at kids but I don%26#39;t really see any big problems for a quick one night stay. If you check in at a reasonable time you%26#39;ll be able to check out the Flamingo pool next door as its open to the public from 2pm.

Bills Gamblin Hall %26amp; Saloon Question - ok for Kids ?

For one night you will be fine. You have the Paris next door, and can use the Flamingo pool.

Thanks for the information...that makes me feel alot better. Is there a huge difference between Paris and Bills?

Paris is a much larger, much nicer resort hotel with all the amenities. Bills Gambling Hall %26amp; Saloon is a gambling hall %26amp; saloon with rooms upstairs.

For a one-night stay with a child, Bills is okay I guess. The location is perfect for a one-day sightseeing trip in Vegas; it%26#39;s right in the middle of all the great attractions.

I would check Bally%26#39;s rates for the night. It%26#39;s just across the street from Bill%26#39;s and it%26#39;s also a much nicer full resort hotel. Definitely worth an extra $20-$30 with a child in tow. IMO.

Rates are date sensitive. Give us a date, and get reports of best values.

Bills is a rooming house with a shabby smoky lobby. the location is no big deal, there is more to see S of Bills

A child should be at a full scale resort hotel like MGM, Luxor, MonteCarlo. Excalibur if the good ones are too high

The south 4-corners is much more interesting for kids, and the walk up to the area around Bills is not that long.

Flamingo is worth a look, a kid will be IN the pool and won%26#39;t worry about crowding and lack of lounger.

Thanks!! Is Paris pool nice? Is it a long walk from Paris casino to rooms? Is Paris crowded? July 31st date for 1 night.

I just did a quick check for prices on 7/31 at i4vegas.com.

Bill%26#39;s was $59, Flamingo $63, Bally%26#39;s $69 and Paris $90. Any of the three latter choices would be far preferable to Bill%26#39;s with a child in tow.

I can%26#39;t offer specifics on Paris as I%26#39;ve never stayed there. Flamingo would definitely offer you the best pool.

Bills is great but offers zip re kids...given you date I would opt for a hotel with a good pool

Best helicopter tour of Grand Canyon

What is the best helicopter tour of grand canyon I really want to do the sky walk. Thanks in advance

Best helicopter tour of Grand Canyon

Do your research. The truth is that if you take a helicopter from Las Vegas and go to the Skywalk, you will NOT see the real Grand Canyon. You will see great scenery, but it is not the GC. The real Grand Canyon (the one that you%26#39;ve seen in photos all you life) is 250 miles further east at the Grand Canyon Nat%26#39;l Park near Tusayan AZ. Helicopters don%26#39;t fly there from LV. You can take a fixed wing flight to the GC Airport in Tusayan and then take a helicopter flight from there.

The sky walk is a gimmick that looks out over a remote side canyon that is west of the Grand Canyon.

Best helicopter tour of Grand Canyon

Thanks for the input I will look into costing for the proper trip but i imagine with a small plane and helicopter it wont be cheap.

We rented a Hummer and drove to the West Rim, went out on the skywalk, and loved it! It was perfect for us as we didn%26#39;t want to take the time to drive to the South Rim. It was from u-drive it tours-they picked us up at our hotel, and we had a great time. This was the highlight of our trip. It cost $189pp for everything, and it was well worth it.

Oh, and they also offer a helicopter tour as well. This is the only area that the copter can go all the way down into the canyon. The skywalk is not a gimmick, and the views while not as spectacular as the south rim, were just beautiful.

For a quick half day heli tour, I rate Sundance.

To do the GC properly involves a long trek and includes an overnight stay. Time many UK tourists do not have.

    Hi Ivoryb,

I recommend Sundance aswell. We got picked up in a limo, took to the airport where we we were weighed, then given a sticky label with our helicopter number on it. We waited about 10 mins then we were taken out to the heli, there was commentary and music all through the flight, we landed in the GC where we had a champagne breakfast and took some pics.

They take you over the strip on the way back, and the limo drop you back to your hotel, We really enjoyed it, and i think it cost us about $260 each.

    GlasgowAmy just proved my point.

For $520 you can rent a car and drive to the south rim, spend a night in a hotel at the park and have a nice dinner at the REAL GRAND CANYON.

Other posters have mentioned how their trips to the %26#39;west rim%26#39; was a highlight of their vacation. Just imagine how great it would have been if they had seen the real thing!

I don%26#39;t want to be perceived as a negative poster on this topic, but I really have a passion for the Grand Canyon, and I believe that everyone who wants to see it should take the opportunity and go.

Don%26#39;t cut corners and don%26#39;t get duped by greedy developers and marketers who have a great product to sell, but they pass it off as something that it%26#39;s not.

All it takes is a little bit more of your time.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but this is a question for RedRox. Not until doing some reading here did I realise that South Rim is the %26#39;real%26#39; Grand Canyon to go see.

Unfortunately I have already planned out the number of days I am in Vegas (booked flights already) so I only have the 1 day to see the Grand Canyon.

So would a tour like this be something I should go on, rather than one of the helicopter tours?

    www.grandcanyontourcompany.com/airsouth.html

    Thanks for your advice :)

    kikikins,

That is where you want to go. It%26#39;s a quick trip, but it will take you to the real thing. You%26#39;ll be glad you went. And you%26#39;ll see the difference as you fly over GCWest. Hopefully you%26#39;ll catch the bug and want to return for a longer visit. Let me know when you do.

And please post a review here after your tour.

  • IP versus Flamingo

    Hi,

Just wondered what popular choice would be. Obviously not a Capri Room at IP, but is a standard room at the Flamingo better than standard at IP? If you had to choose......?

    thanks

    IP versus Flamingo

No contest. Flamingo by a landslide.

    IP versus Flamingo

    MyNameWasTaken,

thank you. I have stayed at IP (couple of years ago). It was OK, but if you say Flamingo. That does it.

    Thanks again.

Depending on the dollar amount difference--hands down for me also Flamingo. IP is just a hop away if the Dealertainers are your desire at IP.

    Flamingo!!!!!

Definitely Flamingo, no contest here. Flamingo rooms are very nice %26amp; casino has a great vibe.

    Go with the flow Flamingo.

I never stayed at the IP but the outside facade does not look too appealing. I did however strike up a conversation with an elderly gentleman on the Deuce who told me he stays at the IP all the time and he likes it.

I stayed at the Flamingo in January of 06 and I loved it. I got a great deal right off the Flamingo%26#39;s website - $57 per night because it was off season in Vegas. Beautiful room, excellent housecleaning, comfortable bed, everything worked. Location is mid-strip; you couldn%26#39;t ask for a better location.I%26#39;d stay at the Flamingo any time - you can%26#39;t go wrong there.

    Flamingo.

UK travel agents and brochures love to flog IP, Excalibur and some other places not even on the strip.

The difference between IP and Flamingo is like shopping at a Spar and Sainsburys.

    Venetian or Bellagio??

Hi -- My husband and I are planning our first trip to Las Vegas. I%26#39;m finding similar prices for both the Venetian and Bellagio. Which one would you recommend?

Has anyone stayed at both? Which one do you prefer?

    Thanks!!

    Venetian or Bellagio??

The Venetian has bigger standard rooms, however, the Bellagio is a much more more luxurious hotel.

    Venetian or Bellagio??

I%26#39;m a Bellagio person. I%26#39;d choose it for pool area and location alone. I also prefer their casino over that at the Venetian. However, Venetian is very, very nice, it%26#39;s just a matter of personal taste I think.

I have to vote for the Bellagio (have never stayed at Venetian but have gambled, eaten, shopped there). Love the whole feel of Bellagio....will be there next week for four days.

You%26#39;ll get feedback on both sides of the fence with half saying Bellagio and half saying Venetian. Both are very busy properties with a lot of foot traffic of non hotel guests walking through visiting. I think Bellagio is worse off since everyone is going through that place. But if you don%26#39;t mind crowded lobbies and casino areas, then no problem. Venetian can get quite busy too at times with conventioneers if they are hosting one or the convention center is.

Personally I prefer the Venetian since its usually not as crowded as Bellagio and all the rooms have been renovated in the past year and are a little larger than Bellagio rooms. Both are in good locations, Bellagio is in the center of everything while Venetian is a little further north.. It is nearby to a lot of properties and Fashion Show Mall.

I%26#39;m a die hard Venetian/Palazzo fan, too many stays there to count but for a first time traveler in Vegas, I%26#39;d go with Bellagio for a first trip. Location, Nice Rooms, Great pools and dining choices.

Altough I still prefer the rooms at Venetian over Bellagio, you just can%26#39;t go wrong with either.

    Have a great trip.

Either would be a fine choice. Bellagio is a bit more central which would be an advantage for your first trip. I doubt you%26#39;d be disappointed either way.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions! Any tips on where to get the best price? I%26#39;m finding the best price by booking directly with the hotel but wasn%26#39;t sure if there was a website out there that I don%26#39;t know about.

I%26#39;ve looked on priceline, hotels.com, expedia, etc.

    Thanks!

For the cheapest rate, go directly to the Bellagio web site. There is a ';rates calendar'; and also ';web specials.'; Click on ';reservations'; and it brings you to the calendars and specials. You can check month by month and it shows the rates for the whole week. Sunday through Thurs is usually the cheapest time to go.

If you can splurge another $50 a night, then opt for the Lakeview rooms.

I would definaly choose the Bellagio. I have been in both hotels and I would highly recommend the Bellagio. Its perfectly located right on the strip, and you also get great views of the water show. I checked and have some great promos going on now. i would check out their website at 鈥tdmt.com/MGM/鈥?/a>

You might be able to get a great price there.

    Good luck

Venetian / Palazzo for sure. Their standard rooms are a lot bigger and much more luxurious than Bellagio%26#39;s. Bellagio has bigger pool area but if pools are important to you then I would throw in Mandalay Bay into the mix (though its at far south of the strip which might not be ideal for a first trip). Bellagio is showing signs of aging and customer service is way not as good as it used to be.

In terms of location Bellagio is centrally located but I find that most nice hotels are towards the north end of the hotel anyway (where Venetian / Palazzo are).

Grand Canyon trip on the way to Phoenix

We are traveling to Phoenix from Vegas and want to see the Grand Canyon on the way. Is it possible to leave real early in the AM and hit the Grand Canyon and then drive on to Phoenix arriving late at night. To really push it, I%26#39;m thinking we could do the new walkway attraction and maybe still stop at the South rim for late day viewing/ sunset. Then drive on in to Phoenix. A couple of notes- I know it%26#39;s a fairly long drive, but we%26#39;ll have plenty of drivers and don%26#39;t mind getting in to Phoenix late night. Is this feasible ? Thanks in advance for the advice.

Grand Canyon trip on the way to Phoenix

The drive from LV to GCNP is about 5-6 hours. Skip the skywalk. It%26#39;s 250 miles away from the park and a waste of time and money. You could get to the park at Tusayan, spend 3-4 hours driving through and exit at the east gate near Desert View. From there it%26#39;s about a 4 hour drive to PHX.

Grand Canyon trip on the way to Phoenix

when leaving grand canyon and heading south towards phoenix be sure and take the scenic route out of flagstaff it is called 89a,it is agreat drive thru the redrocks and along a great stream ,this is called oak creek canyon and will take you thru sedona a must see.from there you can head towards interstate and on to phoenix

Just make sure you take the ';A'; route on 89... don%26#39;t back track to Ash Fork, instead, take 89A from Flagstaff through Sedona. This will add an hour to your trip and if you%26#39;re coming through at night (after about 7:45 right now), I would skip it.

Thanks everybody for the great advice.

Where are Family Fued slot machines?

Where can you find Family Fued slot machines on the strip and old downtown?

Where are Family Fued slot machines?

NOT at MGM, I looked and asked!! =(

Where are Family Fued slot machines?

    tcaudill,

They are no longer at MGM or NYNY in fact we didn%26#39;t find any when we were there in Jan 08. It%26#39;s my friend%26#39;s favorite machine so we looked at all the casinos we went to. Sorry.....

    zbethg

There were a couple at Mirage last August, but that was a while ago. From the front entrance at the Mirage, they were on the far left side of the casino.

what is there to do downtown?

We are leaving this Sunday and staying at MGM. My dad wants to see downtown. The last time I went was when they opened the Fremont st. experience. So what is there to see and do down there? Any good places to eat?

what is there to do downtown?

You should probably go downtown at night so you can see the light show. I belive it is every hour, on the hour. There is not as much to see downtown as there is on the strip. You can see part of the berlin wall in Main Street Station. It is in one of the men%26#39;s bathroom. I think there are a lot of antiques there as well. You could also go to the neon museum. This is the website:

    http://www.neonmuseum.org/

There are a lot of vendors in the street downtown and lots of cheap souvenier stores to browse in. There is a guy that makes pictures using spraypaint. It is fun to watch him make the pictures.

I really like the Bay City Diner in the Golden Gate for a casual meal. The Main Street Station buffet is a very good place to eat. I have read that the steakhouse at Binion%26#39;s and some places in the Golden Nugget are also good places to eat at.

what is there to do downtown?

why did you go downtown for

Scroll up to the Search In panel and type in downtown and click on GO.

Lots of discussion and opinions there.

Definitely make it DT! The light show is cool, but if you don%26#39;t want to stand there with all the awe-struck people staring up and walking, not paying attention where they are going- Go to the Vue bar upstairs in Fitzgerald%26#39;s. You still get to see everything, but in a seat with a beerski. And if I remember correctly they have 2$ drafts there.

As far as food, I had NO complaints. I ate at Fremont Casino%26#39;s buffet, very good for the price. Main Street Station is excellent as well. I also had Tony Romas (inside Fremont) one night for the $7.95 prime rib dinner. Great value and it was done perfectly ( a little thin, but hey it WAS some prime rib for cheap!) Beware though that special is from 4-6pm or 7 I think.

The main draw DT is def. gambling. Casinos are steps from one another, table limits are lower, and comps come easier. The crowd is a lot more relaxed and toned-down than on the strip.

Entertainment is in a whole %26#39;nuther class over here. There are shows- but they are not nearly as opulent or EXPENSIVE as most of the ones on the strip. I have been there when they have live bands on the street- and also when they do not (colder weather). There is always something to do DT, but most come to drink heavily and gamble cheaply....

What is there to do downtown? Not much. The light show is awesome but once you%26#39;ve seen it, you%26#39;ve seen it. The hotels/casinos are old hat, they%26#39;re nice but not that interesting. When I visit Vegas these days I rarely go downtown. The strip is where it%26#39;s at.

    how far away is downtown

Not a whole lot to see Downtown, but it%26#39;s the best place to go for just good ol%26#39; gambling and eating! We%26#39;ve seen it all and done it all on the Strip, so we always stay in Downtown now because it%26#39;s a whole LOT less crowded than the Strip.

I%26#39;m w Umaga. If you gamble a lot DT you will find better rules.

If you need to see Lions and can%26#39;t eat anywhere that doesn%26#39;t have a celebrity name on the door do the strip.

Thanks everyone, my father just wanted to see it again. He has not been to DT in about 30 years so I guess he just wants to remember the good old days.

  • Dining car between the Plaza and Main Street

Across the street from the Plaza as you walk to the Main Street Casino there is a dining car. Has there ever been food service in those cars since they have been placed there. A friend says they ate in there and I never seen activity inside the dining cars. Anyone know??? I thought maybe he had eaten in the Pullman Grille in the Main Street Casino and was confused.

Dining car between the Plaza and Main Street

That dining car hasn%26#39;t been dined in for at least 10 years if at all at that location. There is a dining car inside the Pullman Grille of the Main Street Station where you can have your after dinner coffee and cognac. A couple of years ago you could also enjoy a fine cigar in there too, but progress has decreed that you can%26#39;t smoke anywhere there is food served. So no cigar!

  • Treasure Island reservation website error??

While searching for a hotel for the 4th of july weekend, I got these incredibly low price results from Treasure Island website.

    Itinerary

    Arriving: Thu Jul 03, 2008 3 Guests

    Departing: Mon Jul 07, 2008

    1 Tower Deluxe Room 4 night(s): $356.00

    Taxes: $32.04

    Total: $388.04

    Deposit Due: $97.01

What%26#39;s strange is that when i search 3 nights (Jul 03 to Jul 06), I get more expensive total of $519. Do you think there%26#39;s some sort of an error on their website and I could be charged more later when they find it out? Should I just go ahead and book it?

    Treasure Island reservation website error??

I did the same search and got the same results. If you are going for four nights I would book it. If you are only planning three nights, I would call the hotel and ask them what is up.

    Mr. K

    Treasure Island reservation website error??

    mr clutch..also check www.smartervegas.com

there is listed all of the promos and discount for all the major hotels in Vegas. The site may explain if they are having a special or something that is being automatically applied. Smartervegas also has direct links to the promos, so you don%26#39;t need to remember codes or anything....

check it out for all the discounts for the shows, 3 of the Cirque shows are on sale this summer.

Heck I would book it even if you are only going for three nights! Then just leave without checking out!

mgg has the right idea. Book it for 4 nights then leave.

mgg is a genius. The answer is obvious.

I%26#39;ve found deals like this throug Harrah%26#39;s too. I just kept putting in different dates. The deals didn%26#39;t always make sense to me but the better deal worked in our schedule.

Maybe they offer that in hopes that you will gamble, see a show, eat at the restaurants, etc on your extra day there.

    All You Can Eat Lobster

I know the Rio has an all you can eat seafood buffet, but what other buffets offer all you can eat seafood (specifically lobster)?

Would really like to find one that isn%26#39;t just seafood centered since several in out party hate all forms of fish.

    All You Can Eat Lobster

Wynn buffet has it all. And you can get it for free with a little luck

    All You Can Eat Lobster

Rio Village seafood buffet has all you can eat slipper lobster. If you want the better lobster you pay per lobster in addition to the price of the buffet.

The only other all you can eat lobster buffet that I can think of it the Sunday Sterling Brunch at Bally%26#39;s. $75 per person and fantastic.

BTW, STerling brunch is not a seafood buffet. They have many other dishes but lobster and king crab are among the choices.

Wynn has great choices including king crab lags and shrimp. The buffet has other interesting choices as well. I have never seen lobster there. :-(

Thanks for that, Shrinkgirl. I was already dialing Wynn%26#39;s to complain about them hiding the lobster from me at the buffet.

Shrink, send some of that rain down to us-that%26#39;s our rain you%26#39;re getting. Been dry for a long, long time.

    Gladly Hitch. It%26#39;s going to a long time before it%26#39;s dry around here. :-%26gt;

Hitch: I just called the Wynn meself and they said they only serve lobster on New Years Eve. FYI everybody.

A few months ago, Buzio%26#39;s in Rio had a $75 pp real lobster unlimited dinner offer. Beverages, tax, tip, figure over a hundy.

I was not a fan of the lobster at Bally%26#39;s Brunch.

It had some sort of reddish stuff (maybe paprika)

    on it.

The buffet area is very small and crowded -

Sometimes by the time you made your way to the

seafood the chafing dish was empty. There is no

room to stand and wait for them to re-fill it.

That being said the other food was very good and

they were very generous with the champagne.

I would opt for Mandalay Bay for Champagne Sunday

Brunch and have all you can eat crabs legs.

Cheaper and just as good! top it off with some

    chocolate covered strawberries and champagne

and you will be very happy! :)

    Dollar discount code

    Hi

Has anyone use the TARR code for discount with Dollar car rental? Did they asked for any ID? I don%26#39;t want to use that code and be denied and pay full price.

I usewd it last month with a problem. Also, you might want to try code 490.

    What kind of problem?

Sorry, Nath, I should have proofed my post.

I had no problem renting the car using the code.

Grand Canyon Tour - Book before we go??

Hi, we%26#39;ve got 4 nights in Vegas in September. We%26#39;re planning on a coach tour to the Hoover Dam and a day trip to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. I%26#39;ve read lots of posts that say we should allow 2 days to see the best of the Canyon, but this trip we%26#39;re short of time. So, is it best for me to continue my online search and then book online for the best deal, or is it something we can book cheaper when we%26#39;re actually there? Also, I%26#39;d like your opinions - is it worth saving money and going from Vegas by coach (yes I know v long trip!) and then a helicopter flight over the canyon, or flying from Vegas and going over the canyon in the plane with a coach tour of the South Rim?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Grand Canyon Tour - Book before we go??

Hi, cant help with all your points, but we found that booking online was cheaper if you wanted to go with a reputable company (Papillon, Maverick). However, we still waited until we got to vegas and then booked online using the internet facilities in the hotel. Only waited until we got there as we hadnt been to vegas before and didnt know if we would want to spare the time to go on the trip. trouble is you cant go all that way from the UK and then not see part of G.C can you! You did have to book at least 24hrs in advance tho, and we went October so dont know if its any busier in September.

Grand Canyon Tour - Book before we go??

It%26#39;s always wise to book in advance.

Help to Choose: MGM or Excalibur

I got two great deals that I booked, and don%26#39;t know which one to keep. I would love your suggestions.

    1. Excalibur - $26/night -older rooms (would try the $20 upgrade trick)

    2. MGM -$59/night w/ $25 credit and 2 free drinks at West Wing Lounge

I have heard good reviews on both, and they are both in the same area. Just need a little push in the right direction.

    Thanks

Help to Choose: MGM or Excalibur

MGM without a doubt. It is just a bigger, better hotel all around. Better pool area too.

    Enjoy

Help to Choose: MGM or Excalibur

if you are travelling with kids then excalibur is the best choice ,if in an adults only party the MGM is alot more sophisticated and a good choice when up against any of the hotels on the strip, the only slight problem is neither is central but riding the bus is easy

Hands up for MGM, it is a great hotel with a good scene.

    MGM - MGM - MGM

I%26#39;d rather have a view of Excal than stay there. We were just at MGM last week and had an amazing vacation!

    Good luck!

    Sheila

I would opt for the MGM. $59/night is a very good price for the quality. I%26#39;ve stayed at both and there is no comparison. MGM is much nicer. I stayed at the Excalibur just because on that particular trip I was doing a Renaissance theme and thought it would be fun to stay at the Excalibur and go to the Mediveal Dinner show on my way to Arizona for the Ren Faire there. The rooms at the Excalibur were very old. MGM is by far much better and I would stay there any day over Excalibur. Look at photos of both on Trip Advisor if you can.

Have a safe and blessed vacation:) Hope this helped.

    /scarlett329

Wow..5 out of 5 for MGM. I was thinking along that line, but the $26 was such a cheap price It%26#39;s hard to pass up.

It will just be adults on this trip (my hubbies 39th bday) so I would prefer a little more classy place.

I think I%26#39;ll take your advise. Thanks!

I%26#39;d pay the extra and stay at MGM. Especially since you don%26#39;t have kids . I went a few years back and had my kids with my stayed at Excalibur that was fine for being with them, this year no kids and staying downtown!!

    Definitely MGM.

    MGM wins this round.

$59/night at MGM is a great deal . . . especially with the extras.

I%26#39;m about as frugal as they come . . . but here%26#39;s another vote for MGM . . . all the way!!!

  • Golden Values Coupon Book from Golden Nugget-what is in it?

Can anyone who has had one of these coupon books let me know the types of coupons that are in it? Thanks. Any for Starbucks or restaurants at the GN?

Golden Values Coupon Book from Golden Nugget-what is in it?

I cant remember all the stuff, but I called the front desk and the very nice gal read me the coupons. There were 2-4-1 buffet, $10 free slot play for new members, discount at the retail store, there was a small discount at one of the restaurant but it was a max of $8, some 2-4-1 show offer??

Basically as I am going on a solo trip and already have a card non really applied to me. If you want to know them all give them a call and ask for the front desk. The person who answers should ba able to grab one and read them off for you.

Golden Values Coupon Book from Golden Nugget-what is in it?

there was also a free room upgrade next visit (whihc we used) and 2 $10 match play

Can the coupon book be acquired only if you book a room online, or can one get it even if you book your room as a package deal from a travel agent?

I heard there were two free cocktails? Is that true? Where would they be at?

The two free cocktails are at either bar on thecasino floor- I believe the one we used is called Claude%26#39;s and is right near the poker room- the other ';eligible'; bar is the International beer bar - which is a long bar that runs along one side of the casino going out toward Fremont St or the Sports Book- they are just bars , not lounges. I believe the coupon says beer or a well drink- once a bartender let us have house wine , while another bartender would not allow it. We usually just use the coupon to have a nightcap on the way to our room- they are just casino bars , nothing very exciting.

there are alos coupons for reduced price drinks in their two ';lounges'; Rush in the casino and Golddiggers upstairs overlooking Fremont St, but both are only good in the very early evening hours - 4-6 pm or so, when both places are pretty dead. We didn%26#39;t feel like sitting alone in an empty room , so have not used those on either of the last two trips.

They are not automatcally given to everyone - some packages include them others not- we asked for a booklet once when we weren%26#39;t given it at check in and were told it was oot ';in our package'; but when we book a Private Arrangemnets package we usually find it is included- not always for other promotions or some airline or travel agent packages though, although we do see lots of folks on group tours lined up to use the buffet coupon, so it varies.

No Starbucks coupons - they don%26#39;t accept any GN coupons at Starbucks and you are always told that when you are given the book. There is usually a free dessert or small discount coupon for either the Grotto or the Coffee Shop ( Carson St) , frequently something for both- but only for a very small amount. We use mainly the BOGO Buffets ( breafast or lunch only) , the two free drinks and the match play ( $10). We have not found much use for the other stuff- the ';room upgrade'; is for a north tower room , which we feel is no upgrade- closer to the casino but a much smaller bathroom than south tower.

Much of the touted $250 value is for acouipon for their very overpriced boutique and one offering I think $25 off any Landry%26#39;s restaurant EXCEPT any in Las Vegas- pretty useless for most people. Also a Budget rent a car couipon - but we do better just shopping around by far- the rentals at GN are expensive compared to the Airport.

We stay at GN four times a year and don%26#39;t find much to get excited about in their coupon book- maybe under $50 total in savings for what we consider usable for us. Nice when we get it- no big deal if we don%26#39;t.

I just got back today from GN. Most of the coupons were worthless. Example...2 free drinks at the International bar. OK..put a 20 in the Video Poker machine at the bar and you have 10 free drinks. The only coupons with value were 2 buy one get one breakfast/lunch buffets. Breakfast was $10 and lunch $11...both worth the price even without a coupon. -- dave

I love the bar coupons, I use them when I am sitting in the sports book and have not bet enough to get free drinks there. I run out to the lounge and get my free drink and bring it back into the sports book.

If anyone still has coupons left over in their books, PM me as I am going in July and October. I would be interested in the room upgrade, the bar drinks and any others if someone is willing to share.

need room upgrade coupons (3) if you have them. will pay let me know. larrykwiat@yahoo.com

    Carrot Top..Tix4Tonite Price?

If you have recently purchased Carrot Top tickets at the half price booth, I would to know how much of a discount they offered.

I know the discount changes all the time but I am curious as we might take someone to the show in July.

    I love discounts. :-%26gt;

    TIA

    Carrot Top..Tix4Tonite Price?

One of my employees purchased tickets for his show using this booth however it was not half off. Remembering the conversation it was about 30-35% off the listed price.

I%26#39;ve seen the show - it%26#39;s a small venue so if you%26#39;re last row it%26#39;s still a good seat and FWIW it was a very very funny show.

    Carrot Top..Tix4Tonite Price?

We went week before last %26amp; bought tix at Tix4Tonite for $39.00. Absolutely loved the show!

Go to www.lasvegas-nv.com %26amp; click on coupons. There is one for Tix for $1.00 off tickets %26amp; VIP line pass. I went to the location at the Fashion Show Mall. Right on Las Vegas Bl. there is valet parking at Neiman Marcus %26amp; Tix is just around the corner. The valet let me park there.

The line had about 50 people in it but with my VIP pass I was able to walk right up. The girl there suggested we go over to Luxor as the sooner you trade in your tickets for seats you%26#39;ll get better seating.

Well, we didn%26#39;t %26amp; went at 730 that night %26amp; got last row. However when we got up to the maitre %26#39;d he said we had to climb stairs to get to last row. I am unable to do stairs %26amp; he was very nice %26amp; sat us in the 4th row center.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks to both of you for the replies. We have seen Carrot Top in the past but we had comps. We liked the show very much too. Funny, I thought it would be lame and childish. It was a scream!

Thanks for the tips about exchanging early.

    buffets 2 for 1

Im staying at Treasure Island at the end of June, does the hotel give away the coupons or do you have to hunt for them? or another hotel with a better buffet and how does one come across these coupons?

    buffets 2 for 1

May, at the TI you have to earn by playing and accumalating points. Do a search on the Wynn buffet.

    buffets 2 for 1

Most casinos offer some kind of inducement for signing up to their players card.

In some cases this includes buffet deals but it tends to vary from place to place.

Go to Wynn buffet across, it is a much better buffet.

Thanks all, does anyone know if Steve wynn owns TI also or do they have a different players card?

Steve Wynn no longer owns TI. It is a MGM-Mirage property.

This was posted by Warmwinds regarding a system regarding getting a free Wynn buffet:

    ';

    Here%26#39;s the ';technique'; -

Just got back from Vegas yesterday and here is the scoop:

It is so simple to get a free buffet and even a couple $$, it feels almost criminal.

    What you do:

    1. Sign up for the Red Card and you get $10 in free play.

    2. Go to a video roulette machine (they are on the south side of the casino if my memory serves).

    3. Put $40 in the machine and activate your free play.

    4. Bet $18 on black, $18 on red, and $1 on 0.

    5. Repeat step 4 six more times.

    6. No matter what happens, you will lose $1 per spin for all 7 spins, and will have $43 left in the machine. Cash out with your $3 profit and head to the players club to activate your buffet (you%26#39;ll have earned about 27 points and you only need 25).

    My wife and I both did this 3 days ago and had our buffets in 5 minutes. We each spent our extra $3 on a spin at Megabucks, which of course we lost! ';

Is there no 00 on a video roulette machine then??

Can I and my wife both sign up for different cards and double up on the buffets?

Nice back-door into a free buffet. I am for sure gonna try it!

    May, the answer is yes.

  • From Airport To Hotel With 6

We (a total of 6) will land in LV on Monday morning. What is the best way to get to our hotel (Luxor)? Do any cabs hold six? Are Limos expensive? Or, would it be best for us all to buy a shuttle pass?

Thanks for all the great advise in this forum!

    OTB

From Airport To Hotel With 6

2 cabs would be the best option unless you want to spring for a limo. And for a short hop from the airport to Luxor the limo probably isn%26#39;t worth your money.

Shuttles take forever and a day to get anywhere - you have to wait for them to fill up and then you may stop at other properties before yours. (Although being at Luxor might work in your favor)

Shuttle for 6 people would be more $$ than 2 cabs I would think.

From Airport To Hotel With 6

    OTB,

Cabs don%26#39;t take 6 people you would have to take 2 cabs. It%26#39;s really not that big of a deal to do and it probably your best option. You can inquiry about a limo but the expense may not be worth it.

There are several shuttles but in my opinion they aren%26#39;t that great unless you want to spend a lot of time dropping others off. You have to wait till they have a full bus and then depending on the route you can be the first or last to be dropped off. But, it%26#39;s Vegas and you might want to gamble. It%26#39;s only $4 dollars one way.

Luxor is a favorite for drivers to take the tunnel.

The cab fare willbe from $10 to $15 each way to Luxor.

If it is $15 each way that is $60 for 2 cabs to go round trip to/from Luxor.

The Grey line and Bell Trans. shuttles are $9.00 roun trip per person. 6 times $9.00 is $54.00.

Also you have to add a tip for each way on the cabs or shuttle.

I would say to have 3 in a cab. Or if you want to save $10-$15 as a group take a shuttle.

    I agree cab it.

One year while in Las Vegas for a Staff Conference, co-workers and I paid $5 each and took a limo --- that was 2 or 3 years ago. If all 6 people are paying adults and you can get a rate of $50 or so I would go that route.

As for cabs, the law only allows the cabs in Vegas to carry up to 5 passengers of which one is the cab driver. This is also true for the cab vans.

    Under 18 at Bellagio Buffet?

I am really confused by the Bellagio non-guest under 18 policy. Can I bring my 15 year-old son to eat at the Buffet or get a gellato? How about at the Wynn buffet?

    Under 18 at Bellagio Buffet?

Yes, you can bring him. The under 18 policy (which isn%26#39;t followed very well as evidenced by the parade of people through the hotel) does not apply if you are at a restaurant or show or staying at the hotel.

    Under 18 at Bellagio Buffet?

Yes children are allowed at all restaurants,if you are staying there or not. They are not allowed on the gaming floor.

As Damama has stated, it%26#39;s okay to bring your 15 y/old to B. Wynn has a problem with strollers but you don%26#39;t fit that criteria so go and enjoy. Both are beautiful places to visit.

Thanks. We want to do one of the nicer buffets for dinner. Son has an interest in the architecture at the Wynn. Wanted to check first to avoid hassles. From what I understand buffet at Wynn has a ';nicer atmosphere'; than than the one at Bellagio. is that correct?

How to get from terminal 2 to 1 at McCarran?

All the online maps that I can find don%26#39;t show how I can get from T2 to T1. My parents are arriving at the D gates in T1 at the same time as I arrive at T2 and I am trying to find a way and place to meet up.

Any airport pros have any wisdom for me?

How to get from terminal 2 to 1 at McCarran?

Why not meet in the baggage claim? You%26#39;ll all have to head there anyway.

How to get from terminal 2 to 1 at McCarran?

    From the airport%26#39;s website:

    ';Teminal 2 Shuttle

Free shuttle bus service between Terminal 1 and 2 is available during all hours of flight operations at Terminal 2. The bus stop at Terminal 1 is located on the Zero Level below baggage claim. At Terminal 2, the bus stop is located directly in front of the ticketing lobby entrance.

    Service is provided approximately every 12-15 minutes';

yourstarla, The two terminals have their own baggage claim areas within their respective buildings. The OP and his/her parents wouldn%26#39;t head to any common meeting place without making the effort to do so.

Thanks! I hadn%26#39;t thought to check the shuttle/limo tab and then dig down to that info. Thanks again!

You can also walk from T2 to T1.

About a 10-minute walk, slightly uphill, and if you%26#39;ve just missed a shuttle from T2, it would actually be quicker than waiting for and riding the next shuttle.

We are visiting LV next month and hosting a small cocktail party one evening. Can anyone recommend a grocery or deli that sells party trays or other good food for nibbling?

I believe you can get party trays, 3%26#39; subs %26amp; stuff like that from Albertsons (grocery store).

Grocery Store or Deli for party catering?

Vons is a good major grocery store also.

Albertsons and Ralphs are large grocery stores here in the West also.

Whole Foods and Trader Joes have alot of good quality specialty foods. WF is not cheap, but good quality. TJ is reasonably priced and has good selection.

Target and Party City are good for napkins, drink pourers, drink stirrers, plates, ect.

I went to Las Vegas in April for my Neices wedding and we had the reception in a Tower Suite at Teasure Island.

advice on Concierge service, hotels and renewing vows?

Hi everyone, We are planning a trip to Vegas for August. This is our first time to Vegas. And my husband%26#39;s first time to the US. Many questions:

    1. Wanted advice on best way to book tickets to Elton John and other shows at Cesars? We have booked at the Bellagio - is it best to go through their concierge to get the best seats? Do they charge for this service?

    2. We will be there for 7 nights, does anyone recommend splitting accommodation between 2 hotels, to get different experience and also there seems to be a better weekend rate at Venetian for when we are going? Is this worth saving $100 or is it a hassle?

    3. Has anyone renewed wedding vows in Vegas? Any Recommendations, and what kind of cost?

    Thanks for any advice/opinions.

advice on Concierge service, hotels and renewing vows?

You might like the Palazzo better than the Venetian becuase it is new and lees crowded. Both the Venetian and Palazzo are next to each other and are owned by the same company. www.palazzolasvegas.com

The pool at Palazzo is nicer than Venitian.

Yes I reccomend splitting your stay. It%26#39;s fun to move around.

    Bellagio is a beautiful place.

advice on Concierge service, hotels and renewing vows?

The Bellagio concierge could definitely organize Elton John tickets for you but it%26#39;s doubtful that they%26#39;d be able to get you seats any better than those you could buy yourself from the box office. That would probably only be a possibility if the show were at the hotel where you were actually staying.

    ';Wanted advice on best way to book tickets to Elton John and other shows at Cesars? We have booked at the Bellagio - is it best to go through their concierge to get the best seats? Do they charge for this service?';

A good concierge can get you great seats regardless of where the concert is being held. Same with dinner reservations etc. But have you checked directly with the box office to see what you can get on your own? If a concierge is getting ';tough to get'; tickets they would often come at a premium price over face value. I%26#39;m thinking Elton John tickets aren%26#39;t falling into this category since he plays in Las Vegas all the time and has been doing so for several years now.

    does anyone recommend splitting accommodation between 2 hotels, to get different experience and also there seems to be a better weekend rate at Venetian for when we are going? ';

Strictly personal choice. Some enjoy staying in two places. Others find it a hassle packing up and moving on to another property. If you feel like taking 2 hours or so to make the move then go for it!

Thanks. Will try to call box office, do I call the venue (Ceasars) or do you have to go through ticket master? Also I%26#39;m booking from New Zealand, do they hold tickets there for collection, or should I get them sent to the hotel?

if you are staying in a conceirge suite

then go through your conceirge host for tickets

and if you are going to split hotels .i would highly recomend the fortuna concierge suite at the palazzo they have a extra large concierge lounge which i believe you good use inviting up some of your friends to the lounge.I invited my nephew and wife into the lounge several times with no problems at all

    GOOD LUCK

You can book many shows through the hotel (where the show is playing) website. You can access Elton, Bette, Cher via the harrahs.com website. If you don%26#39;t want the hassle or worry, just contact the concierge and have them make the reservations for you. You can pick up the tickets once you get to Vegas.

As for changing hotels, for only $100 difference I wouldn%26#39;t bother. Bellagio is lovely, has nice dining options, is in the center of the strip, beautiful pool area......nope, if it were me I wouldn%26#39;t move.

It%26#39;s totally irrelevant whether or not you%26#39;re staying in accommodation that has its own designated concierge facility. If this isn%26#39;t the case just go through the hotel%26#39;s regular concierge desk if you want help in getting tickets.

We have never used a concierge even with as much as we have traveled. I was wondering also how you handle a concierge when making a request? Do you just tip or do you pay a set amount for their services?

    Blagger

Your right.I just took for granted that they were staying in a concierge suite

It%26#39;s amazing what a good concierge can accomplish, and you tip according to what they accomplish for you.

Casual questions like asking for directions or a basic recommendation for dinner in the area wouldn%26#39;t normally warrant a tip in my experience.

But getting you a table at ';that place'; that you can%26#39;t get into that night definitely warrants 20 bucks. Arranging for your suit jacket to get repaired after you catch it on a door handle 2 hours before you%26#39;re speaking in front of 600 people definitely deserves a tip. (Don%26#39;t ask lol)
