We are traveling to Phoenix from Vegas and want to see the Grand Canyon on the way. Is it possible to leave real early in the AM and hit the Grand Canyon and then drive on to Phoenix arriving late at night. To really push it, I%26#39;m thinking we could do the new walkway attraction and maybe still stop at the South rim for late day viewing/ sunset. Then drive on in to Phoenix. A couple of notes- I know it%26#39;s a fairly long drive, but we%26#39;ll have plenty of drivers and don%26#39;t mind getting in to Phoenix late night. Is this feasible ? Thanks in advance for the advice.
Grand Canyon trip on the way to Phoenix
The drive from LV to GCNP is about 5-6 hours. Skip the skywalk. It%26#39;s 250 miles away from the park and a waste of time and money. You could get to the park at Tusayan, spend 3-4 hours driving through and exit at the east gate near Desert View. From there it%26#39;s about a 4 hour drive to PHX.
Grand Canyon trip on the way to Phoenix
when leaving grand canyon and heading south towards phoenix be sure and take the scenic route out of flagstaff it is called 89a,it is agreat drive thru the redrocks and along a great stream ,this is called oak creek canyon and will take you thru sedona a must see.from there you can head towards interstate and on to phoenix
Just make sure you take the ';A'; route on 89... don%26#39;t back track to Ash Fork, instead, take 89A from Flagstaff through Sedona. This will add an hour to your trip and if you%26#39;re coming through at night (after about 7:45 right now), I would skip it.
Thanks everybody for the great advice.
