what is there to do downtown?

We are leaving this Sunday and staying at MGM. My dad wants to see downtown. The last time I went was when they opened the Fremont st. experience. So what is there to see and do down there? Any good places to eat?

what is there to do downtown?

You should probably go downtown at night so you can see the light show. I belive it is every hour, on the hour. There is not as much to see downtown as there is on the strip. You can see part of the berlin wall in Main Street Station. It is in one of the men%26#39;s bathroom. I think there are a lot of antiques there as well. You could also go to the neon museum. This is the website:

There are a lot of vendors in the street downtown and lots of cheap souvenier stores to browse in. There is a guy that makes pictures using spraypaint. It is fun to watch him make the pictures.

I really like the Bay City Diner in the Golden Gate for a casual meal. The Main Street Station buffet is a very good place to eat. I have read that the steakhouse at Binion%26#39;s and some places in the Golden Nugget are also good places to eat at.

why did you go downtown for

Scroll up to the Search In panel and type in downtown and click on GO.

Lots of discussion and opinions there.

Definitely make it DT! The light show is cool, but if you don%26#39;t want to stand there with all the awe-struck people staring up and walking, not paying attention where they are going- Go to the Vue bar upstairs in Fitzgerald%26#39;s. You still get to see everything, but in a seat with a beerski. And if I remember correctly they have 2$ drafts there.

As far as food, I had NO complaints. I ate at Fremont Casino%26#39;s buffet, very good for the price. Main Street Station is excellent as well. I also had Tony Romas (inside Fremont) one night for the $7.95 prime rib dinner. Great value and it was done perfectly ( a little thin, but hey it WAS some prime rib for cheap!) Beware though that special is from 4-6pm or 7 I think.

The main draw DT is def. gambling. Casinos are steps from one another, table limits are lower, and comps come easier. The crowd is a lot more relaxed and toned-down than on the strip.

Entertainment is in a whole %26#39;nuther class over here. There are shows- but they are not nearly as opulent or EXPENSIVE as most of the ones on the strip. I have been there when they have live bands on the street- and also when they do not (colder weather). There is always something to do DT, but most come to drink heavily and gamble cheaply....

What is there to do downtown? Not much. The light show is awesome but once you%26#39;ve seen it, you%26#39;ve seen it. The hotels/casinos are old hat, they%26#39;re nice but not that interesting. When I visit Vegas these days I rarely go downtown. The strip is where it%26#39;s at.

how far away is downtown

Not a whole lot to see Downtown, but it%26#39;s the best place to go for just good ol%26#39; gambling and eating! We%26#39;ve seen it all and done it all on the Strip, so we always stay in Downtown now because it%26#39;s a whole LOT less crowded than the Strip.

I%26#39;m w Umaga. If you gamble a lot DT you will find better rules.

If you need to see Lions and can%26#39;t eat anywhere that doesn%26#39;t have a celebrity name on the door do the strip.

Thanks everyone, my father just wanted to see it again. He has not been to DT in about 30 years so I guess he just wants to remember the good old days.
