Craps Questions

On my first trip to Vegas in May I took went to one of those classes to learn how to play Craps. I liked the game and actually won about $2300 ($1,300 at Ceasers and $1,000 at MGM) in total in my 4 day stay playing it.

We are going in July again and have been looking at different places to play. My DH plays poker and I now play Craps, lol. No expert by any means and you will soon find out.

What exactly do odds mean? I saw that Casino Royale pays 100X odds on their websit.

So if you play $10.00 and win how much will this pay you?

Thanks

Dee

Craps Questions

WAIT, I have too put my boots on, its getting gushy.

You took lessons, won 2300 dollars and ask the above question about Odds.

Sounds like one of those Texas tall tales around the camp fire.

LOL! I wasn%26#39;t paying much attention at the class obviously. It just seemed like a fun game and I got the basics of it. Call it lucky I guess.

I was not till later that I realized that different casinos pay different ';odds'; and started thinking. I think where we played we were getting 2-3-5x odds.

Basically it means that if you put $10 on the pass line, you can put 100x that behind the bet for odds. Those odds are the best paying bet on the board. Alas, I would never have the money or the nerve to put that much down behind the line, so it matters not to me what the odds are. 2x is just fine for me.

I have to agree with professsor. You just learned the game, didn%26#39;t know about odds, and won $2300? How much were you betting? $10 on the line and a few place bets would have to be at the table for a great long while to pay that. Even with max odds on a $10 line would take a marathon to make 2300...unless the table was smoking hot. Hmmmm

Tell me you were a new shooter and had the dice for, like, 45 minutes?

OMG- all I do is play the pass line/ come bets and take odds and usually manage to lose! I wish I could have made that kind of money.

I love craps, but get frusrated when I play ';by the book'; making bets with a low house edge while some drunk yahoo will make every junk proposition bet you can imagine and walk away with a bundle.

Perhaps the OP was with someone who advised her on how to bet.

Regardless, any time you make a pass line (or don%26#39;t pass) bet you can back it with a ';free odds'; bet. This is the best bet in the game because it pays off at true odds with no house edge.

When you hear or read that a casino pays #x odds, this is the maximum multiple of your pass line bet that you can place in odds. For example, if you make a $10 pass line bet at a casino with 3x4x5x odds, which is the standard on the strip, this means that your odds bet may be anywhere from $30-$50 depending on which point was rolled. At Casino Royale, with 100x odds, you could put an odds bet of up to $1000 down.

Unless you have a very large bankroll, or are playing on a very low minimum table, you probably wouldn%26#39;t take advantage of 100x odds. It%26#39;s a gimnmick to get people int he door.

If you play Craps enough you will most likely change your strategies as you start losing money.

I use to play the don%26#39;t pass line and then place the 6 and 8. My thinking was that I was playing the 3 most likely numbers to hit. But this only works out if the roller hits 6 %26amp; 8 alot before crapping out. It worked a few times but then I started losing because the roller would not hit 6 or 8 but would then crap out or hit their mark.

I%26#39;ve heard someone say the best way to achieve the best odds on the table is to do a place bet with odds, then follow with 2 come bets with odds. I may try this strategy the next time I go.

The 1,300 we (Dh and I ) won at Ceasers took about 3 hours. The table was hot, hot, hot. He had to go because we had tickets to see Crazy Horse Paris. Wish I had stayed but maybe it was for the best. Get out while ahead.

The second $1,000 was me by my lonesome self (Dh was mad up in the room). I was playing at a hot then cold then hot table from midnight to 5:30a.m. Never seemed that long though.
