I almost passed out.///// went to quick hit and won 57.00 and then won 50.00 on hot shot......what a day!

have to try the oz machines when we get back to AZ this winter. Congradulations on your good luck!! I would have almost passed out too. Where is Albertos? My husband and I liked Casa Seranos in Mohave. Our opionion is that even though it was a bit of a drive it was our favorite compared to Bullhead and Havesue%26#39;s Seranos. Didn%26#39;t try the one at Riverside though. You would think that beings they are a chain the food would be the same. But our experience wasn%26#39;t that way. Mohave%26#39;s had better presentation and portions. Overall taste was better ,to us anyway. And the wait staff is friendlier. We love their Fajita Salad (Chicken or Steak) and the cost was reasonable for lunch (around 5.75). Oft times my husband and I would share it beings it is so big. They also keep the warm chips flowing and serve them with two kinds of salsas and a hot chorizo bean and cheese dip for free with meal...great deal!!

We just got back now from casa at riverside....my daughter graduates tonight from laughlin high and this is where she likes to eat.....same everything as the other ones. They like the loaded mexican pot skins. I ate the combo of soft taco, cheese enchillada and chile releno....it was good but albertos is better. This costs 9.50 here and 10.25 at albertos. Albertos is in the laughlin shopping town center on needles highway . Take james woodbury to end and turn left and you are on needles highway.....pass the park, library, post office and you will see the shopping center. This is big town ....we have aldelpes supermarket, 2 mexican restraurants which are albertos and casa torta(something like that lol...foods pretty good also)and a lousy pizza place called mommas. I eat the lunch buffet there cause its only 5.00. Not too bad for that price but not worth ordering otherwise.

Polkadad, Congradulations to your daughter on her graduation day.!! Will try the riverside Casa Seranos. Also, thank you for the heads up and directions to Albertos. Will try that as well. We spent 4 months this last winter and with your help (and Grif and Calsuede) we had an easy time deciding where to eat and gamble in town. We look forward to coming back this next winter and discover more of Laughlin and the surrounding area.

Ok well, I got back from Laughlin yesterday and had a great time.I did hit every casino there except for the Tropicana, which was only because it was on the other side of the street and I didn%26#39;t know it was there until we left in the bus yesterday. I told the bus that I guess I would hav eto go back because I missed one. LOL I did try the Wizard of Oz at one of the casino%26#39;s but I lost on it. I did see it at other casino%26#39;s, but never was able to get on it. Oh well trust me, I lost a whole lot of money without playing the Wizard of Oz ! :(

It was 107 when we were there a few years ago. It felt as though it was between 85 and 90. We%26#39;re used to high humidity(90+%) here so the heat didn%26#39;t bother us as much as we expected. We stayed out in it everyday. You MUST drink plenty of water (64 oz) each day or you will become dehydrated. Pick up some bottled water on your way to the hotel and refill the bottles throughout the day. It%26#39;s hot, but it%26#39;s not miserable (unless you%26#39;re not used to a warm climate).

I’ve enjoyed my visits to Spa Bellagio. When you purchase a treatment you have all day access to the workout facility and wet areas (sauna, steamroom, hot tubs). Swedish and aromatherapy massages are great. My friend had the coconut body scrub during our trip in March and enjoyed it.

When you arrive you’re assigned a locker and issued slippers (robe is located in the locker). The attendant gives you a tour of the locker room, wet area, and showers/vanity area. After changing into the robe and slippers, customers wait in a lounge area and can enjoy juices, waters, and sodas (and there’s usually a fruit bowl too). Around your appointment time an attendant will come out and escort you to another lounge area where you meet your spa attendant. After your service you can relax in a meditation room (a dimly lit room with walls of fountains, lights, and candles and chaise lounges and blankets) or go back to the locker area to use the wet areas or shower.

The advice I can offer is to schedule your appointment as soon as possible. Whether the appointment is for yourself or for more than one person, calling in advance will give you the best chances to secure the day and time of day you’re looking for. Hope this helps. Have fun!

Where to stay is my first consideration, any recommendations? Two of us are turing 40, the other 3 are in their early-mid 40%26#39;s. We will want somewhere ncie but will we need 3 rooms? Does anybody know of a 2 bedroom suite arrangement that may work?

In general, and especially on a holiday weekend, you will pay way more for a 2 BR suite at any major Strip property than for adjoining standard rooms. If you want to economize, you may be able to make do with two rooms if at least one of the rooms is a ';mini-suite'; with a pull-out sofa bed. Rio and Venetian have standard rooms of this type.

You might really like the Venetian. Check there and the Signature at MGM, you might also want to check out the Platinum. I don%26#39;t know anything about it but it has gotten good reviews here.

You will pay a lot more to be in Vegas over a weekend, especially a holiday weekend. Sun-Thurs rates are so much cheaper than Fri-Sat ones.

I know. (sigh) But I already used all of my vacation days for the year. (big sigh)

If there are 5 of you, you could do 2 double rooms if 2 of you are willing to share a bed.

Ballys is centrally located and has very large rooms, and usually is one of the more affordable spots on the strip. The North tower rooms have just been redone, but the South tower rooms usually have Bellagio Fountain views. (older decor, but very clean and large)

If pools are your thing, I recommend Flamingo for location, or MGM. Probably the best pools at the best prices.

Fav ';clubs'; include Cleopatras Barge (dancing) and Shadow Bar at Caesars; Carnivale Court outdoor bar for fun bartenders and music/dancing outside Harrahs.

Dueling pianos in Harrahs (right inside from Carnivale). Monte Carlo pub usually is fun.

Kahunaville in TI for fun bartenders/all around fun.

Voodoo lounge at top of Rio is fun--free shuttle from Harrahs; free passes at rionights.com, but I think they are only good M-Th. Typical clubs will be VERY busy Labor Day weekend; you will WAIT and you will PAY...though 5 attractively dressed women have a better shot than men!

Do head downtown one night just to see it.

Do check out Mandalay Bay one night...many great lounges...great people watching.

Since it is your first trip...just wander thru all the casinos, new %26amp; old, lots to see.

If you like MX food, our new fav restaurant is Isla in TI...great ambiance, great food, well-priced, and the best mojito I have ever had.

Gambling is most expensive at biggest casinos, at night and on weekends. Get players club cards and try to frequent those casinos to possibly earn comps. If you are going to gamble anyway, you may as well get a perk. Easier at Harrahs properties or MGM/Mirage as you have several to choose from.

I am 42...heading to Vegas for 12th trip (or is it 13..). We were married there 14 years ago! Have a great time!

Palazzo or Venetian might be a good fit. The very pleasant rooms/suites are huge, so you wouldn%26#39;t feel cramped. Maybe 2 in one room and 3 in the other would feel roomy. I like the location... close to the Wynn, Fashion Show Mall, Mirage, and Forum Shops not too far away too. Good restaurants around, and nice pools too. Whatever you do, I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll all have a great time!

At Flamingo they have a 2 bedroom suite that is over 1500 sq ft. I believe the cost is around $600 a night %26amp; it center of the strip, %26amp; you have Margaritaville for great eats %26amp; fun. If that is to much, you probably have to get 2 rooms that are connected.

Caesars also has some suite that would fit your criteria %26amp; it is across the street from Flamingo so it is also center of the strip which makes it easy to get around on the strip in either direction. You can check it out on Harrah%26#39;s website to see if it meets your criteria, if it does just call them, if the price drop, just call %26amp; tell them %26amp; they%26#39;ll give you the lower rate that you saw. I%26#39;ve been looking for something small that won%26#39;t take up much room in our suitcase to make hot water for coffee/tea in our hotel room (in cases where they don%26#39;t have a coffeemaker). Do any of you have any knowledge of these coil immersion units that are supposed to boil water? They certainly are small enough, but do they work? Most of the one cup coffee/tea makers I%26#39;ve found online are far too big to pack. If anyone has any other ideas, I%26#39;d appreciate your imput.

I brought my own ';hot pot'; it boils water within 2 minutes. It was a bit bulky to fit in the suitcase but well worth bringing it. My hotel chagred $3.50 for a cup of coffee, I saved $50.00 for the week by making my own.

We just spent a week %26#39;on a budget%26#39; at the Excalibur. Although we aren%26#39;t great coffee drinkers, we saved a heap of money (and time) by buying yoghurt and muffins for breakfast at the store in the casino. I saw immersion units at Walmart and I know people who have used them very successfully.

Riviera vs. Orleans

Looking for opinions from previous patrons...

I%26#39;ve never been to Vegas and my fiance and I are going for New Years 2009. We won%26#39;t have a car, don%26#39;t gamble much but might like to learn without loosing a bunch of money, and don%26#39;t have a ton of money to spend but still want to get the full Vegas experience. We%26#39;re not very picky and he digs old gangster stuff and movie culture. Both mid twenties, no kids.

I%26#39;ve checked them all out and the Riviera and the Orleans seem to be in the right place and in our price range. They seem to be quirky but clean and fun. What are your opinions? Anyone having stayed at both have a prefrence?

Second you do not want to stay at the Riviera. The Orleans I have heard isn%26#39;t bad, but since this is your first visit I would recommend staying on the strip at one of the more popular hotels i.e. Mirage, Paris, Flamingo, MGM Grand, Luxor, NYNY, Planet Hollywood. All of which you can get a good rate at. Just be diligent and check for discounts on each hotels website and also check www.smartervergas.com You can get great deals from that website.

Riviera vs. Orleans

I%26#39;ll check those out. Everything is so expensive for New Years. It%26#39;s also very difficult to figure out the location of the different hotels in respects to each other and the strip. Is there a silly tourist map somewhere?

If you ';don%26#39;t have a ton of money to spend but still want to get the full Vegas experience'; then don%26#39;t go to LV over New Year%26#39;s.

Go any other time. I promise you that you%26#39;ll still get the maximum Vegas experience (if anything it will very possibly be more enjoyable as a first time visitor if you avoid New Year%26#39;s) and your accommodation budget will go WAY further. Better to go some other time and stay at a nicer hotel in a good location than have to deal with the New Year%26#39;s madness whilst having to downgrade your options.

NYE in Vegas means stay on the Strip where the action is happening.

You will be stuck at either place due to closure of LV Blvd. NO traffic, No free shuttle to Orleans.

LV will be shoulder to shoulder people.

Try BILLS. Ballys, Imperial Palace.

First off I agree with Blagger. But I can understand why you want to spend NYE in Las Vegas.

But if you stay at either of those locations you will probably not have the experiance you are looking for. They are BOTH bad locations for you. And you%26#39;re not going to find many in your age group at either place on NYE.

Considereing your budget I would recommend Imperial Palace. The rate shouldn%26#39;t be much higher than Riv or Orleans, but the location on the strip would be much better for your needs.

personally, I think Orleans is much better in all respects than Riviera. Better casino, better restaurants, nicer rooms, But it is off the strip. If you are there for more than a day or two, why not stay at Riviera only on NYE and at Orleans the other nights. Have you looked into the stratosphere. It is not far from Riviera, but we like the Strat a lot better than Riv. and it is usually one of the least expensive options in town.

I go to vegas 3-5 times a year. There is no way in H#ll I would go at New Years. Rethink your plans. I don%26#39;t care where you want to stay.Go the week after.

If that is your only choice, I would stay at Orleans, it is a lot better than Riveria. It at least has clean rooms that don%26#39;t smell musty, %26amp; mildew. It is so far North the strip that if would be like staying at Orleans. Did you check out Bill%26#39;s or Imperial Palace, which is center of the strip, they are nothing fancy, but have clean rooms %26amp; will meet your criteria in a good stay.

we have flights booked for september 27th and have been holding on booking a room after lots of advice and waiting for better deals we were going to stay at flamingo but there rooms have been creeping up so have looked around at other places and wanted some opinions on ceasars which of the 3 deluxe rooms would be best the prices are the same except the forum tower which is $80 cheaper, which is best for locality etc, palace tower looks to be oldest of the three as doesnt mention refurb or anything.

have other hotels in mind also like paris now due to the flamingo prices being similar any thoughts?

At Caesars the best would be Augustus then the Palace tower, it is very nice, the rooms %26amp; bathrooms are huge. The marble bathrooms is very luxurious, %26amp; the beds are so comfy %26amp; you have a very nice sitting area. The Forum has been newly renovated with modern hi tech in the room.

Did you check out Harrah%26#39;s website for hot deals to see if you can get a better hot deal. The website is www.harrahs.com click on top LV then hotel then hot deals or hotel overview or stay %26amp; play packages.

If you book %26amp; see a lower rate you can call %26amp; they%26#39;ll match the lower rate that you saw. There are no dress codes for any of the Vegas shows. You will see everything from shorts/tees, jeans, business casual right up to formalwear. No matter what you wear there are going to be people who are more formally dressed than you are and others who are more casually dressed so wear whatever you feel comfortable wearing. Some people like to dress up at night while others don%26#39;t bother. You will be fine no matter what you wear.

Apparently you had to ask, since you don';t know this - NO, jean shorts are NOT appropriate for a nightime show in Las Vegas.

We wore good clothes but not over the top and were surprised to see people in jeans and sneakers, but most people dressed up but not evening wear. Try to get the table just by the door when you go in (ask when you get your tickets). The actors have a table right beside this one and they spend a lot of time around the main door. We LOVED this show. the actors are brilliant at staying in role even when no-one seems to be watching them. You really do feel like a guests at a wedding. The crowd must have been hard going the night we went as our table was full of humorless women but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

There%26#39;s a couple of mid sized (25,000 and 30,000 delegates respectively) conventions then, but there%26#39;s very little in terms of other events throughout June which may explain why those dates stand out as expensive.

I know NOTHING about Reno, but was just offered a resonable trip there (staying at Harrah%26#39;s) including airfare from Rochester, NY. What is there to do other than gambling for two older single women? Would we need a car? And what is weather like in JulY, please?

If you just stay in the downtown area, you would not need a car. Downtown you have gambling, shows at the casinos, the Reno Events Center may have someone performing during that time frame (usually famous singers), the Pioneer Center may have performances (usually theater or ballet), the Automobile Museum, the Art Museum, the Truckee River Riverwalk...all of these would not necessitate a car. There are almost always activities going on downtown in the summers as well...in July I know there is a chicken wing cookoff, a Basque Festival, Artown (a month-long art festival), and after looking quickly at a Reno website I see that Tom Jones, Joan Rivers, Ringo Starr, and Lyle Lovett are all performing here various dates during July. There is also a huge Farmer%26#39;s Market in nearby Sparks, NV.

If you were wanting to do any exploring out of downtown (which I would recommend-you won%26#39;t get a very accurate representation of Reno just staying within a few city blocks), you would need a car. Side trips to Lake Tahoe and Virginia City (an old west mining town) are must dos, Donner Lake in the summer is beautiful, and there are lots of easy hiking trails in the area, but not really within walking distance of the downtown casino area.

July is usually hot, but, to coin the phrase: ';it%26#39;s a dry heat';! You are probably more accustomed to humid weather in the summers in New York...here it can be in the 90%26#39;s but it doesn%26#39;t feel that bad. We usually get wind in the afternoons, and occasionally we%26#39;ll get desert thunderstorms (we%26#39;re at around 4500 feet in elevation but the topography is high desert).

I go with a Gals Only group of 3-6 women each year (Oct 08, here we come!). Yes, we gamble a bit, but less so as we%26#39;ve aged, I mean matured.

We like to eat. There are some fantastic meals to be had. The Steakhouse at Harrahs is a time-honored tradition, worthy of the price. Oceano at the Peppermill was also tasty. One of our gals must, I mean MUST, visit In%26amp;Out burger!

We also enjoy hitting a spa or two. I%26#39;d recommend the Siena. For a fun pedicure, I%26#39;d suggest SOAK with their pedi/mani/cocktail special. We%26#39;ve been to all of the spas (Harrahs included) and they all have their pros/cons.

As for a car? Yep grab one and head to Tahoe. I love it there.

Hi everyone,

When booking rooms, is it better to do it online per the casino%26#39;s website or calling in?

Also, what is the usual likely hood of getting an upgrade? For instances, if I were to book a South Tower room for $348 instead of a Deluxe for $418 and upon arrival asked for a room in the North tower, do you think I could get it for free or less than $70?

I will be in Vegas the first week of October and want to book a room now and then keep an eye on deals. Or would you suggest just wait a couple of more weeks?

Booking Rooms

It is always best to book directly with a hotel whether via its website or over the telephone. If there is a price right now that you find to be a decent one, then go ahead and book it. You are on the right track with your line of thinking. Once booked, keep checking prices and if you see a lower one, the contact the hotel and ask for a price adjustment. Either that or cancel the first booking and then do a new one at the lower rate. Besides checking the hotel website to see if prices are changed also check out sites like www.fatwallet.com and www.smartervegas.com. If there%26#39;s a good promo there, then contact the hotel and get the rate that goes with that promo code.

Booking Rooms

It is always best to book directly with the hotel then keep checking their website to see if the rates have gone down for your vacation time. If they have then you can call and have your rate reduced to the new lower rate.

As far as getting a North tower room by asking upon arrival is not guranteed because it would depend if there is one available or not. If you want the better room book it in the first place.

We always go direct-Some hotels do give you a price break for web bookings. If you find the rates go lower, by booking with hotel they will honor that laoer price if asked. A discounter booking, you get what you paid and can not change.

As to upgrades- All depends on how full the hotel is at the time. If it is a convention time, do not expect an upgrade. As to getting it free, again it is hit or miss.

I found its always cheaper to book online. And as the above poster stated keep checking back. I booked my room directly with the hotels website roughly 2 months prior to my trip. The same room is now going for $100.00 more. Also sign the guest books on the sites to recieve the hotels emails. they will usually send you deals that the general public isn%26#39;t privy too. And if you have already booked you can just call the hotel to get the new cheaper rate. Lastly another poster listed a website on here

Hey everyone,

Its my first real trip to LV, and I need all the advice I can get. We are going during the 3rd week in July, and yes I know its the hottest time of the year, but I couldn%26#39;t pass on the deal I was offered. So anyways, any advice on getting from the airport to the hotel, where to eat, where to gamble, and etc. Any input that I can get will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You%26#39;ve asked some very general questions. For example, ';where to gamble'; depends on what your game is. I would encourage you to read through some of the threads on this forum and make use of the ';Search'; feature, and you will learn a lot in a short time.

As far as airport transportation, take a cab. The cab line may look insanely long but they actually move quickly. Tell the cab driver, ';Flamingo, please, and you%26#39;re not going to take the tunnel, are you?';

Thanks Stratton for the info on the cab. I didn%26#39;t even know there was a specific route to take. I made my questions generalized, so I could generate any opinions that are out there. As per gambling, I love blackjack and holdem, but I will not be playing any poker due to the fact that I am not good enough to be playing in vegas. I have played some roulette and crabs but not tons. I really want any opinion on where to play the standard games, craps, roulette, Blackjack, etc. Thanks again

You%26#39;ll need to provide a lot more detail about your preferences and budget for us to answer most of your questions.

Even what transport to take from the airport is a matter of opinion. You could catch a cab after waiting in a long but (usually) fast-moving line for roughly $20 plus tip. (No matter what the driver says, tell him to avoid the tunnel.) If you have more than two people with you, it may be worth renting a walk-up limo starting at $45/hour. Besides arriving ';in style';, you%26#39;ll have the ability to pick up snacks/drinks on the way in (Von%26#39;s on E. Tropicana Ave. is the closest), ride up the Strip or whatever tickles your fancy.

I don%26#39;t recommend a shuttle unless you aren%26#39;t in a hurry. The savings IMO isn%26#39;t worth the potential of stopping at several hotels before your own.

Trolley from the airport is very reasonable and excellent value, check which bus is next to go, grab a couple of tickets and jump on, very little waithing involved.

The Deuce is excellent value, and will take you up to Freemont Street which is well worth a visit, as is El Cortez if you want good value for your gambling.

Try Ellis Island just a wee stroll from the Flamingo for a meal.

If there is a line at the reception at Flamingo when you arrive and there is a separate, shorter line for gold card members, simply go to the total Rewards desk and sign up for your player%26#39;s club card, you are automatically GOLD and then proceed to the GOLD line.

Get to the pool early, loungers disappear fast in the heat.

Tropical Breeze Cafe in Flamingo is good. I%26#39;ve never had their buffet and have been told it is very underwhelming. Victorian Room in Bill%26#39;s right next door is good for breakfast and for late night eats, open 24 hrs also (as is the Trop Breeze).

Thanks Foxy! Late night eateries are key for me since I truly do not plan on finding my hotel room until anywhere from 3-5am. Would you guys reccomend signing up for the players (or whatever the hotel calls their card) card at any hotel I gamble at?

Always sign up, new members often get on the spot free play and gifts and often when you are back at home you receive offers for all kinds of things, discounted or free rooms etc. : )

When checking in, ask for a remodeled standard room. Some standard rooms have been remodeled and some have not.

As already stated, The Tropical Breeze Cafe is good for breakfast.

The Flamingo has a great pool and tends to be very crowded. It%26#39;s a little difficult to find seating most of the time.

The Flamingo also has Jimmy Buffett%26#39;s Margaritaville on premises which is a fun restaurant/bar. There is some great seating on the upper patio there with a great view of The Strip. Also, Margaritaville is now open of breakfast, which is very good.

I recieved a free upgrade to the new GO room when I booked my package, so hopefuly they dont overbook those. Has anyone stayed in the new GO rooms?

Both in the Reviews section of this site, and by using the ';Search'; feature on this forum, you can find an endless amount of commentary from those who have stayed in a GO room.

On the gambling front: If you play blackjack, avoid tables that payout 6:5 on blackjacks instead of the standard 3:2. This is especially common in singledeck games and, unfortunately, at lower limit tables. Also look for tables where the dealer stands on soft 17, which are getting harder to find. Tropicana is one place that pitches a good game with a $5 minimum. For table games generally, you will find lower minimums and better rules downtown and off-Strip than on the Strip itself.

As for poker, there is no reason you should be intimidated to play poker in Vegas. There are plenty of people who play for the first time. You might want to start with a low-limit game so you%26#39;ll be unlikely to be targeted by sharks. Excalibur is a place I%26#39;d recommend for this. You can also sign up for a tournament where the maximum you can lose is your initial buy-in.

If you are looking for a fun %26amp; huge pool then check out Flamingo which is also reasonable, %26amp; have Margaritaville, which is lots of fun. Flamingo has 4 pools with waterfall, a tropical garden %26amp; lots of fun .

No comparison. Harrah%26#39;s pool is very possibly in the bottom two or three on the Strip. Rio%26#39;s large pool area is really nice with sandy beaches and waterfalls.

going to see Jersey boys at the Palazzo. show starts at 7 and lasts 2.5 hrs. what do people recommend as an itenery. eat before or after show ?? and where is a good place to eat around. will probably go to venetian for a wander around first but dont no what to do after that ??

Many options at The V (and include Palazzo). Only you can decide if you want to eat before or after the show - it%26#39;s not 2 1/2 hr.

For fine dining we like Bouchon, Delmonico.

Casual also has many options - including many in the mall area.

The webiste lists the restaurants with menus in most cases - take a look and ask questions on specific restaurants if needed.

you do realize JB is at P - not V, right?

Connected, and easy to navigate from one to the other. Bouchon about 10 min walk from the JB theatre.

There are plenty of options in the canal area which connects V to P.

We ate at Palazzo - Grand Lux before the 7pm show.

Excellent service, food and price. I believe we ate at 5pm and had loads of time afterward, before the show started.

There are many fine restaurants at the Palazzo. I recently tried Table 10, a restaurant thats run by Emeril Lagasse. Mind you, we were there 5 days after the restaurant opening, the wait staff has a little bit of brushing up. Hopefully it has improved since the 4 months Ive been there. While the food is really really good, the dishes are not outstanding, one of a kind %26#39;pieces%26#39;. (I guess I should write a review on this later). We did finish in time for Phantom of the Opera%26#39;s 7pm showing by walking into the restaurant at 5pm. Its a comfotable feeling you know that the theatre is nearby and you dont have to set aside 30+ min because youre coming from another property.

The show is two hours and ten minutes in length, which includes an eight minute intermission. It will also take you twenty minutes to exit the theater and lobby area. (well...it%26#39;ll certainly feel that way--it did for me). So...2.5 hours!!!

There are many dining options. Yes, you can look at the menus online, or you can give us Kind and Helpful people a bit more info of what you are wanting.

Enjoy the show (I loved it) and have a great time in Vegas.

Grand Lux Cafe has very good food and large portions, and since there are two locations (One at P and one at V) and open 24 hours they will be able to accommodate you without a reservation either before or after the show.

Looking for some help here, i am off to Vegas on Sat and was wondering if there where any places that will show any of the Euro 2008 games?

I would imagine the Crown and anchor will be showing most of the games, They may even show them in some of the sports books but i doubt it. ESPN2 may be showing some of them also(They used to when i lived there). But the crown and anchor is your best bet

US fans can tune into ESPN for all 31 championship matches airing live in the U.S. with 2 major matches broadcast on ABC Sports.

Therefore, any hotel casino would be able to get it.

Saturday%26#39;s matches are being aired stateside on ESPN ';Classic'; which the local ';Vegas'; cable provider does not carry. However, ANY pub or casino, most of which have satellite feeds, will show it. If you go to a small local pub, the barkeeps in Vegas are VERY accomodating and if you ask they will put it up. Matches begin local time at 9 am so very little else to compete sports wise. Second matches are live local at 11:45 am.

Any idea if any Sports books broadcast the games? Also: Is it possible to place bets on the games at the sports books?

I watched the Bristol City vs Hull City playoff on the big screen in the MGM Sports Book. Admittedly this was 7.30 in the morning, so it didn%26#39;t have much competition. However, they were showing the Champions league final almost everywhere, even on TV%26#39;s in the Venetian Cafe/Terrace. You will certainly find Euro 2008 on in the ESPN Zone and also the big sports books. Just probably without sound.

Crown and Anchor is airing all games, I just checked their website. I was at McMullan%26#39;s for the US-England game (had my money on it too), and I actually prefer the service and crowds at McMullan%26#39;s. Their food was awesome too.

As far as betting goes, unfortunately soccer betting is not as popular as I want it to be. You can go t Hilton, they have a huge sportsbook called superbook, and there they have all the Euro 2008 games, I know it for sure, because I was just there and placed my bet. Terrible%26#39;s also has EPL and MLS bettings, so I am sure they%26#39;ll have Euro 2008. (But I suggest you call). It is a big enough tourney so others might have it. Just ask the people at sportsbook at the hotel you%26#39;re staying at, and they may just tell you to go to Hilton (that%26#39;s what happened to me..), or they might know some others.

Myself and my gf are off to Vegas for the first time late July and I was wondering if anyone knows or any decent deals for the canyon/hoover dam and usual attractions and also how to get cheap tickets for any of the shows?

Regarding shows, if you want to see anything at the top end of the spectrum such as Cirque du Soleil or major headline acts such as Cher then you should book now. Call the box office rather than book online to get good advice and the best choice of tickets.

If you don%26#39;t particularly mind what you see then you can pick up cheap (many at half price) tickets for a lot of shows at the discount booths once you%26#39;re in Vegas. These open at 11am and sell tickets for that night%26#39;s shows only.

I used the above last year and they were fantastic and the cheapest at that time. I can%26#39;t say whether that is still the case as I haven%26#39;t researched it.

I also used then for the over the strip at night trip but they use a completely different helicopter company who were far less professional. Was still ok though.

We weren%26#39;t married there, but we did renew our wedding vows there in 2006.

It cost us $224 and that included limo pick up and drop off from our hotel, 24 photos and video of the ceremony. ';Elvis'; walked me down the aisle and did 3 songs as well as photo ops after the ceremony.

It was great fun. My hubby is not a huge Elvis fan, but he enjoyed it too. It was something that I really wanted to do during our first trip to Vegas and I%26#39;m glad we did it!

The chapel itself was small, but the people were friendly. We did our ceremony late at night (10pm) so there weren%26#39;t many people around, but it was a good experience and I would recommend it.

Trainers (';tennis shoes'; or ';sneakers'; to those of us on the other side of the pond) are not going to be a problem at casual bars, but I believe you will run into problems at many (most?) clubs if you%26#39;re wearing them.

Best to ask about specific places as you make your plans.

Maggiano%26#39;s is highly recommended for %26#39;after wedding meals%26#39; in Vegas because they offer private rooms and special wedding packageds (pre set meal price per person, x number of hours of wine/spirits, music for dancing if you want. There are not a lot of places close to or on the strip that will do that other than the hotels who would do something like this in a pvt meeting room at greater expense than what Maggiano%26#39;s charges. However, there will only be 5 of you, do you want a pvt room for 5 and a preset menu at a fixed price? I don%26#39;t know if they will do this or not for only 5.

Maggiano%26#39;s is nice, has good food. It is Italian, huge portions and served family style most times. Since there are just going to be 5 of you, you don%26#39;t have to go there unless that is what you really want to do and it is the type of food that you want. With 5, you can eat almost anywhere you want after your wedding depending on time of day. Just some more food for thought for you.

I am sure that you will be able to book a private dining room if you wish but please note that they do have a policy of a minimum spend per room. Eg: if the minimum spend is $500 and your bill comes to $400 then you will be charged the extra $100 to make it up to the minimum spend.

I have just booked the DiCarlo room and the minimum spend is $900

Gabby is correct. If there%26#39;s only 5 of you, you can go anywhere. Maggiano%26#39;s is good but there are lots of better places for your wedding dinner with only 5 people.

i love maggiano%26#39;s food, amazing. the meat lasagne is amazing and so is the fried mozzarella. i%26#39;ve eaten at the one in indianapolis and in chicago, that%26#39;s the only downside, its a chain and not special to vegas.

it might be nice for you to do a vegas only type place?

by the way, i also LOVE joe%26#39;s stone crab, and olive%26#39;s at bellagio watching the fountains.

the closest ghost town I know of is at Calico, California, about 2-1/2 hour drive from Vegas.

But, there is a little western town with a railroad, riding stables, and petting zoo at Bonnie Springs, which is just about a half hour west of Vegas. I don%26#39;t know of any tours; maybe someone else would.

Another fun drive is to Oatman, Arizona (about 2 hours). It%26#39;s an old western town with donkeys walking wild through the streets. You buy bunches of carrots for $1 from the storekeepers to feed to the donkeys. It%26#39;s fun, too.

Wow - how I would love something like that!

Live in Miami and as a lark recently went to one of the seedy ';slotsinos'; they have opened. It was like walking into a homeless shelter. Needless to say my hsuband said ';we are here so lets play something'; - I had a slight buzz so acquiesed.

After $60 we hit $2500 and then another $800 - so now at least I have some $ towards gambling in Vegas next week (maybe I can hit some kind of jackpot too)

For gambling with lower table minimums a ten minute or so walk towards center Strip will find you at Casino Royale or O%26#39;Shea%26#39;s. These are situated on the opposite side of the street to TI. Cheap drinks here too.

Impossible to recommend dining options without more information about just what you%26#39;re looking for.

We stayed at TI for 6 nights in May and had an excellent time.

During the day (weekdays) you can find $5 blackjack at TI and $10 BJ all other times.

Also, Canters Deli at TI is a great, cheap place to eat.

Also for cheaper eats we went over to Venetian (or Palazzo) and ate at the Grand Lux Cafe.

Stayed at TI in August and it was fantastic.

I%26#39;d agree that Canters Deli is very good (especially the Reuben). You can walk to the fashion mall in 5 minutes which has a big food court (and a few restuarants)

We%26#39;ve stayed at TI 2 or 3 times. Like to sit in bar at Isla which looks out on the casino. Margarita and Nachos - nice break and people watching.

Checked out a few prices for hotels, cheapest option is Luxor at $529 for 5 nights, then Ballys at $575 and top of our budget is Paris at $680. Can I have peoples thoughts on these hotels. Which has the best pool?

Of those hotels I%26#39;d choose Paris without a doubt. Pool isn%26#39;t great but you%26#39;re not totally guaranteed the weather in October anyway so I wouldn%26#39;t place a great pool high on my priorities list.

Good idea to do it on the cheap side this time! It%26#39;s always fun to have a trip where you splurge a little, then have a trip where you challenge yourself to see how little you can spend and STILL have a blast. We%26#39;re staying at the Wynn in August, but next trip I%26#39;d like to try Bill%26#39;s, Flamingo, or Golden Nugget downtown.

I%26#39;ve visited the casinos in each of the hotels so I can%26#39;t really offer any advice about the rooms.

Beginning of October is definitely still pool weather with highs in the 90s or upper 80s.

It usually is pool weather, though last Oct. first weekend had highs barely reach 60 and very windy that pool activities were canceled a couple of days.

As for flights, not sure if you will get a good deal on direct flights with fuel charges at the moment.

Look at all options, including 1 stop, you may get a better deal.

Hi everyone. I will be heading with the family to Vegas for a week in July. In the past it has been 3-4 days and my feet are killing me, so I figure we are there longer this time so more walking and the time of year will make it worse so I am thinking of treating myself halfway through with a foot/leg massage. I used Bally%26#39;s many years ago, but it is just a standard Spa, it nice but if you want something extra special %26amp; that is the best IMO than try Caesars, their treatment, service, accommodation, is the best, you can check it out on their website to see if it meets your criteria for a massage.

I%26#39;ve been to the spa at Bally%26#39;s several times and have always enjoyed my treatments there. Their prices are more reasonable than many other places on the Strip and they are much more laid back, which I love.

Used them in Feb and it was a very positive experience. Some owners are not too good in keeping their availablility calendar up to date. I probably emailed 6-8 owners for price quotes and most were very prompt in getting back to me.

Make sure you ask the specifics of what%26#39;s included, some include housekeeping and some do not (you can request as needed for $30-45). Some include the $15 daily resort fee, others you pay the Signature daily. Some will charge a cleaning fee for checkout, some include the sales tax in their quote, etc. My only extra was a $25 administrative fee to the Signature. Make sure it%26#39;s an apples to apples comparison.

My 1st experience with renting directly from and owner, I easily saved 30% or more, and would do it again absolutely.

VRBO.COM for Signature at MGM?

I just booked a sig room at vrbo.com with a strip view. But be careful because you have to trust the owner. They charge large cleaning fees, checkout fees, and resort fees. So you might be paying more than you hoped for.

I would contact renters with current experience. Some owners have not been honoring reservations - not sure how they are handling this.

Ask the owner upfront if they are selling.

We recently bought a unit without accepting the current reservations - the owner had at least 6 reservations over the next few months.

Hopefully those people were able to make other arrangements.

I would try to negotiate price. So many units available you should be able to get one.

I use VRBO many places - rarely have an issue.

Good heads-up on the potential that the owner has their unit up for sale. I know I recently saw a listing of resales for Signature and I believe there were 150+ on that website alone. I believe each tower has approximately 600 units? A lot on the resale market in any case.

Which brings up a point I forgot to mention, the owners deposit and refund policies vary big time. Make sure to ask the owner.

With my owner I signed a mini-lease for the 5 day rental so it seemed pretty iron-clad, but I%26#39;m not an lawyer. The same day I transferred a small deposit to the owner they sent me a confirmation from the Signature. In any event as long as the owner refunds my money, due to a sale of their property, the availability of the units appears high so shouldn%26#39;t be too much problem to make other arrangements.

Just got back a few weeks ago from a 1 week stay at the Signature. Rented using VRBO - #149909; 34th floor, strip view, third building. No problems. Saved over $400.

Going in October and booked through owner with VRBO.

Very good price including cleaning.

I liked the fact that price was the same each day whether weekend or not which I know can be quite a difference at strip hotels.

I also like the fact that you can pick which tower and which room you want.

Your price saving estimates are about right.

I have used vrbo 3 times for the Signature, each a different suite, and each time had an excellent experience. As others suggest, ask lots of questions.

I am staying at Signature next week for 3 weeks after booking on VRBO.

After looking at the calendars, I found all owners who had availability during the time I wanted to stay, and sent each of them a message detailing what I was looking for and the EXACT price I wanted to pay.

Not 15 minutes after I sent the message, 2 owners contacted me and said they had a vacancy. One subsequently tried to ask for more money, so I went with the 2nd owner, and she has been fantastic.

He has been very pleasant to deal with and the price including all taxes and fees was 35% lower than the Signature price or expedia.

It will be our first stay there but it looks awesome.

Was reading the forum here, very good topics. I will be going at the end of August, I know its very warm and I like that. I want to know which hotel has a nice pool that has a good atmosphere during the day, drinks music and all that stuff. I was looking at the Bellagio, the Signature at MGM, if you guys have other suggestions as far as hotels let me know, I am clueless.

Anyone that knows a hotel that might be underrated also that will do the trick let me know.

I liked the Bellagio pool, which is more mellow. If you are looking for music, lot%26#39;s of action and sexy people you might want to look at either the Hard Rock or Palms, which are off the strip

What about the Bellagio, or the Signature at MGM. What 5 star hotels have a cool pool to stay at. At night to go out and visit the casinos and play, I dont mind going out, but which hotels would u recommend if I want to stay on strip and over 4 stars and a half 5?

Bellagio is probably your best bet because of the central location, as long as you%26#39;re not looking for a hardbody/meat market type of scene.

I%26#39;d take the Sig out of the mix, there is no casino or real pool scene, have to get that at the MGM, you%26#39;d be better off center strip.........Caesar%26#39;s, Bellagio, Wynn. Try those.

Wynn is fabulous and IMO their pool is better than the one at Bellagio. Notwithstanding the fact that it%26#39;s smaller (still big though) it%26#39;s very scenic, relaxing and classy.

Mandalay Bay or THEhotel is another great option for exceptional pool scene which is more lively with louder music and attracts a younger crowd. The flip side is it%26#39;s usually very crowded and the hotel is at the south end of the strip.

I have decided to buy the tickets for Mystere but I have a doubt.

In the official web page they say they have shows for 7,8 of July but when I try to buy the tickets through http://www.smartervegas.com/ ( like you have recommended me ) because they have a discount of 35% they don´t give me the possibility of buying the tickets, and on the 9 of July I can get the tickets but in the official web page they say No Performance, so is there anything wrong with this? How can you explain that?

Could it be that Smartvegas.com only has a limited number and they are sold out for the 8th and 9th? Also, if the official website says there is no performance, I would believe them. Maybe a performance was canceled and smartvegas.com doesn%26#39;t know.

Most shows are ';dark'; at least one day a week.

I%26#39;ve just looked at the offer and it would let me buy tickets for the early show on July 7th. I%26#39;ve not looked at the other performances on your dates. Top priced tickets after discount are $67.93 plus $3.50 service charge.

The show is dark (no performance) on July 9th. This is an additional dark date on top of the regular weekly dark days.

According to Vegas.com%26#39;s page on Mystere, it is always dark on Thursdays and Fridays, as well as July 9th (and a few other random dates).

I am staying at TI and was looking to get tix for the 9th or 10th myself so this was disappointing!

Avoid weekends and Holidays, book airfare as soon as you find something within your budget, and always book your Hotel room directly with the hotel.

Do not use a secondary website(expedia,travelocity, etc.)you will pay more and you will not be able to change or cancel your reservation if you find a better deal.

I would avoid these Hotels even though they are cheap Circus Circus, Sahara, and Stratosphere mainly based on location. You can cheap rooms at Bills Gambling Hall and Imperial Palace, which are both ';Center Strip'; and also Luxor, Excalibur, and Tropicana which are on the southern part of the Strip.

Stay downtown, everything is cheaper there. If you are going mainly to gamble and have fun, you will love downtown.

I am a fan of Terribles. I will be staying there in July for $19 a night. The rooms are clean and comfortable. It is definately off the Strip, but for $2.50 you can get a bus pass for 24 hours. You can also get a fine T-bone or Prime Rib dinner for $8.95 including beer or wine.

The airfare is going to be the tough part. Cheap plane tickets are hard to come by these days. I%26#39;ve found decent fares with Southwest, and if their fares drop you can re-book at a lower rate without penalty. But I don%26#39;t think Southwest is terribly helpful if you fly out of Myrtle Beach

Sign up for players clubs and get coupon books, look for coupons in the newspapers when you get to the hotel, I printed a lot of coupons off of the cheapo vegas.com, look for the 2 for 1%26#39;s

Timing is everything. Rates will vary widely from one month to the next and one day to the next. If you can fit your trip in during the week when there is no major convention in town, at the right time of year you can get a very decent hotel for under $100/night. Most of the hotels have promotional offers which generally come out 2-3 months before the travel dates.

Airfares are another story. You may want to look at hotel%26amp;air packages from an airline website or a third party site like Expedia to see if you can get a break on the airfare that way. It%26#39;s hard to predict, but I think airfares have peaked and may decline over the next several months as oil production increases and fuel costs drop, so there may be some benefit to waiting.

Use hotwire to book a room on the strip. As long as the hotel has a casino and is on the strip, you%26#39;ll most likely be ok. Check out betterbidding dot com.

Where to stay can be an issue:

The strip tends to have the higher rates, but is closer to the action.

Downtown tends to have the lower rates, but is further away from the action.

First timers its best to be on the strip. Although if you don%26#39;t mind cabs/shuttles, downtown places will have lower rates.

Their bathroom amenities are very basic, shampoos and conditioners are separate, BUT small. Also the conditioners are pretty %26#39;liquidy%26#39; if you know what I mean, I%26#39;d bring my own or buy travel sized conditioner (the shampoo is ok, but conditioner doesn%26#39;t really %26#39;condition%26#39; the hair). They also have a tiny body lotion in the bathroom too, which is also liquidy.. it smells good though.

The ';Cheapo Vegas'; website gives some funny , irreverant hotel reviews. Each review has a section including '; What You Get Bottles of in the Bathroom';

According to them Bally%26#39;s gives you..... '; Shampoo, conditioner, mouthwash and lotion. It%26#39;s not that generic crap. This is honest to goodness brand name stuff with pretty smells.';

I don%26#39;t know when they last updated Cheapo Vegas. Most of the other Harrah%26#39;s hotels have been switched to Gilcrist and Soames. Some have shampoo/conditioner combos and others have them separate. Either way, it%26#39;s not stuff I would use in my hair. I like their body products fine but their hair stuff does nothing for me.

We thought Bally%26#39;s shampoo/conditioner etc were great. No problems with it.

I usually bring my own but forgot my shampoo in Jan and used Bally%26#39;s and it worked great. They do give you separate generous sized tubes of shampoo and conditioner which is Gilchrist %26amp; Soames and they do replenish your supply daily.

It%26#39;s not walkable, if that is what you%26#39;re asking. South Main Street is in the downtown area (and not in the nicest part of downtown) and Circus Circus is on the northern part of the Strip.

Too far away to walk if that is your question- it is in Downtown and the area of main Street between it and the Circus Circus is very sketchy anyway , even if it were close. You can actually take the 108 bus($1.25) that stops right near the bus station and will take you as far as the Stratosphere Hotel which is a little north of Circus Circus, but I%26#39;m not sure I can even suggest walking that. The other alternative might be to walk a few blocks east through the Fremont St. canopy to the foot of it and go to the Deuce Bus stop at the Neonopolis (just beyond Jillinas restaurant.) teh Deuce is 42 and runs right down the Strip and you can get off right at Circus Circus. This would not be a good plan with lots of lugggae though- teh bus is beyond crowded. maybe with just a backpack or one piec of hand luagge it could work. Lots more room for luggage on the 108, but not nearly as close to Circus Circus. maybe someone with better knowledge of other buses could suggest a better one- those are teh only ones I am familiar with- probably a $10-15 taxi ride- just a guess- lots of taxis waiting in that area. Absolutely cannot and should not be walked however!

As an alternative you can consider this.

The Greyhound station is on Main street between Carson and Bridger. If you walk down to Bridger and then walk 2 blocks east you will be on Bridger and Casino Center Blvd. Local bus 116 can be found at that location. The 116 will take you down to Circus Circus as it runs along Industrial Blvd. You%26#39;ll have to walk maybe a third of a mile from where the bus drops you off on Industrial to get to the entrance of Circus Circus. The 116 bus fare is 1.25. Enjoy your trip.

I have stayed at the B and the V many times, if your asking if it%26#39;s worth $800 more per week in my opinion I would say no, but if you have the extra money then go for it.

Overall I think the choice is between MB and the Mirage - both have their positives and negatives and you can%26#39;t go wrong with either.

I don%26#39;t think it%26#39;s worth an extra 300 / 400 to stay at the hotels you mentioned. May be if it%26#39;s the Wynn. Have you checked out promotional offers that they have from time to time especially at THEhotel and Venetian? What about Palazzo? The Mirage without a doubt, awesome pool area, can%26#39;t beat the location on the strip and they are almost done with all of the room renovations!

Definitely the Mirage, we stayed there once and really liked it and they have been renovating all the rooms, if you go to the Mirage website you can see pictures, looks very nice.

I hate to be difficult, but has it occured to anyone besides me that, considering the plurality of Vegas visitors come from Southern California, that an upscale hotel like Bellagio would not want to name a bar after one of the most dangerous, most made fun of cities in Southern California? Maybe my doing business in CA is clouding my judgment. All is know is I%26#39;ve heard statistics on how many Californians go to Vegas, and I run into people from the IE (near Fontana) everytime I%26#39;m at a table there.

I stayed in the exec suite in March. It is a great room. Very large, two windows, couch, tables and chairs, micr, fridge, mini bar, etc. Huge bath with a large jetted tub and glass enclosed shower. Mine had a great view south down the strip. oh and CLEAN too.

The Duece bus stops out front on the hotel about every 15-20 minutes.

Cant comment on the euro style pool. I am thinking women were admitted free and men are charged.

The food is mediocre, people go more for the atmosphere. It%26#39;s party central, with lots of bachelorettes. The staff is rude (on purpose) and the drinks flow freely. If you go in with the right attitude, it can be a lot of fun. We have one here in Boston that is very popular. The one at Excalibur was pretty much empty the 3 times we visited the Excalibur last week.

It%26#39;s mostly pub type food, but as stated above you don%26#39;t really go for the food. It%26#39;s a fun place to eat, drink and hang out especially if you have a really good sense of humor. The staff picks on everyone (all in good fun) and the things they do can be pretty hilarious. Everytime I%26#39;ve walked by a Dick%26#39;s Last Resort everyone in there seems to be having a blast. I say go for it. If you want, go in for a drink, test it out and stay to eat if you%26#39;re having a good time.

Is it not possible to stay just one night (Saturday night) at the Harrah´s or the Golden Nugget?

I am trying to put in a reservation through their web-sites, but it won´t let me book just one night. They say that they do not have rooms available. But when I try to book etc. Friday - Sunday the booking goes trough.

Any suggestions on other nice hotels in the area that will let us book just this one night?

This is an old LV/asino rule. In yesteryear most Casinos did not allow check in on Saturdays. The GN still does this however if you reserve thru a 3rd party you can usually get a Saturday.
