Luxor

Hi. I read that the Luxor hotel is at the end of the strip. I%26#39;ve never been to las vegas so does anyone know what kind of a walk that would be to the Venetian or Bellagio? is it more than 15 mins %26amp; would it be a bad idea to walk back %26amp; forth from those casinos very late? I%26#39;m torn between paying twice as much to stay at Venetian to be closer to all the hotels I want to visit and eat at %26amp; getting the better price at the Luxor.

thanks

You might want to check out this site:

Luxor

I%26#39;m probably in the minority here, but nothing is that far away in Vegas. The strip is quite safe to walk at any time and is usually crowded at anytime. You can take a tram from the Luxor to NYNY maybe? and then walk down to Bellagio from there. There is also a bus called the Deuce which runs the strip 24 hours a day. It%26#39;s 5 dollars for a 24 hour pass and it%26#39;s totally worth it to me. Taxis are also available but more expensive.

Everything in Vegas is further away than it looks, but I%26#39;ve walked the whole strip many times, even in August when its 115 degrees. You%26#39;ll be able to stay anywhere and visit anywhere you want, regardless of the distance with very little problem. You WILL walk for miles, no matter where you stay!

You%26#39;ll be so overwhelmed with everything on your first trip. If you want to stay somewhere more centrally located, maybe try the Flamingo, Paris, or Ballys. They are nice and not as expensive as Venetian. Treasure Island and Mirage are nice too. HTH!

The time of year makes a difference too. When it%26#39;s 110+ outside even a short distance is difficult.

Luxor is cool. You can walk up and down the strip from there...tram or walkway to Excal, then through NYNY, and then up the strip

I%26#39;ve stayed at the Luxor and I think you%26#39;ll be fine--We made an evening walking from the Wynn to NY, NY watching the free shows along the way. There are also good casino/hotels nearby for the times you don%26#39;t feel like walking, and as another mentioned, the Deuce bus is a cheap and easy way too to go up and down the strip.

Another nice thing about Luxor, it%26#39;s a much shorter taxi ride to and from the airport.

My complaint about the Luxor wasn%26#39;t its location, just that I could never find my way to my room!

It would be considerably more than a 15 minute walk, but as other posters have mentioned, there is public transport readily available. We got a taxi from the Venetian back to the Luxor after we%26#39;d seen Phantom and it cost round about $10, give or take a couple of $. Coming from the UK, taxis seemed really cheap in Vegas to us, but I don%26#39;t know how it compares to other parts of the US. You could walk it, but as you%26#39;ll have probably been on your feet all day, your feet might not be up to it!!
