When i read some TR%26#39;s on here some people seem to spend loads on gambling, but then alot of people from the states only vist vegas for along weekend save up and can spend in two days/nights and have a great blow out top end eats/high limit slots on what we have to budget for 10 nights say $2500 plus if you take in some daytrips etc, if like most folk from over the pond you had to pay the now mega airfares ,do you think the top dollar restaurants, and high limit games would do as well, and please please don%26#39;t think i%26#39;m knocking it because i%26#39;m not it%26#39;s just that not everyone who comes over to vegas are loaded, some are just working family like lots of you,but i%26#39;ve seen people knocked on here for trying to holiday on a budget,do you set yourself a budget and how good are you at keeping to it please discuss
up the blades
spends per nightAir...paid for, hotel...set aside in advance, shows...paid for in advance. Food, gambling and spending money should be based personal preference. For 5 days, we research several nice restaurants, along with costs, and make reservations ahead of time. Taxi fees set aside are a minimum of $250. Allow twice the amount you think you will need for daily expenses. Know your gambling limit and stick to it. Don%26#39;t use ATMs due to extra fees. For some, $2500 might be enough, for others, it would not. Don%26#39;t think that so many, here in the states, go to Vegas for a long weekend. Some do and many stay longer. It%26#39;s hard for us to tell you what you should budget. If I don%26#39;t have enough means to have a good time ($$$$), I save more and plan a later trip. However much you budget, have a great time =)
spends per nightSome people are going to get ';knocked'; by other posters because the other posters can%26#39;t help themselves. I usually ignore those posts.
I%26#39;m a low roller and we are always on a budget. We eat at moderate restaurants and divide our gambling into as many days as we are there. Tuesday%26#39;s money does NOT get opened till Tuesday. But just because we are not high rollers doesn%26#39;t mean we don%26#39;t have a good time.
Sheff, we are definately low budget. Neither of us are into the food experience. We just don%26#39;t spend big for meals. We have always been that way, plus taking a couple hours out for a wonderful meal just cuts into poker time. We only really set a budget for our gambling.
I have a rough idea of how much I can spend on gambling. I really don%26#39;t divide it into the number of days I am there. I am pretty good at knowing my limits and when I have gambled enough each day. The few times I have lost my head and got carried away-I felt upset with myself. Who needs to feel miserable on their vacation? As far as meals are concerned- I only eat a piece of fruit for breakfast and I am happy with a salad or a hot dog for lunch. For dinner I try to find at least two new interesting ethnic restaurants off strip. They may be cheap or they may be expensive. Then I rotate my ';keeper'; list of restaurants. I could go to Andre%26#39;s, Rosemary%26#39;s or I can end up at Ellis Island or In N Out Burger! The price isn%26#39;t important- the food is!
Dont pay any attention to the negative posts mate, justtake the info that you find useful.
We are low rollers, and believe a budget is important if you want to ensure a good time.
Things like helicopter flights/dune buggies etc can be pricey, so budget for big spends seperate to gambling/eating money.
We budget a daily amount each, then at the start of each day, pool $50 each for food from that amount. Maybe one noght we%26#39;ll splash out on a nice meal, but arent that fussy about food.
With the great exchange rate, you will have more to spend, maybe budget 拢100-拢200 each a day (for example), and then see what that gets you in US$.
DON%26#39;T exceed your daily budget, makes for a stress free trip.
Have fun. Come on Man City.
If some of you were referring to my post as being negative...that%26#39;s not the way it was intended. So many of us have different habits and I was merely telling from my own experience. I guess it depends on what frame of mind from which you are reading. Believe me, there are many ways people ';do Vegas';...so...don%26#39;t be negative towards me...best wishes to all! =)
Sheff.... unlike most people who travel to Vegas, I am a non-gambler. I do gamble some, but so little I don%26#39;t even rate as a low roller. $100 of my money per day is my average.
As for meals, there again I don%26#39;t really give it much thought since I go with friends (guys) and great meals just aren%26#39;t important to me. Eating is a matter of necessity only.
So what%26#39;s left? The party! Until recently, flyng to Vegas from Wash. DC was cheap, ($200 R/T) so flying out to party in a 24 hour town is/was the reason I go.
My budget for all of this? $250 or less per day and that includes gambling, food, hotel and party supplies.
Doc
We are definitely low rollers. I%26#39;m a teacher and my husband is a middle manager, so no large dough throwing around here!
I use coupons to eat at the buffets and we have a set amount to gamble each day (I get $100 each day, DH about the same amount.) If I win, I can gamble more or buy or save or whatever.
We go to Vegas when my DH%26#39;s business sends him. They pay for his ticket, his room, his taxis, his meals. That means our only expense is my airfare, my meals and our gambling.... And I still use the 2 for 1 meals to further cut our expenses.
Some people have more disposible income than others. We have 3 kids and a house....
Here is another way I stretch my budget.
I wait for my Favorite S. Yorkshire bloke to come to Vegas, we plan to go up and meet with him and the lovely Joan and let the bloke spring for me supper :)
I am leaving Monday for 7 night in Vegas. Have never stayed this long. Monday-Thursday is with work. They will pay for everything but gambling, tips and shopping. Not much of a shopper so no problem there. I was put in charge of the arrangements because they know I am a ';researcher'; of cheap travel and very thrifty but want a good time. I bought restaurant.com coupons, the ACG, and found a better deal on hotels then the conference was offering. Doesn%26#39;t sound like much but will save over $100 staying across the street from the conference. Our food budget given by work is $35.00 a day. Not very much but it is do-able. I found casinos that give $ to sign up for their card, registered on line for everyone if needed. Cheap gambling.
They other 4 leave on Thursday night, I stay! Husband flies in Friday morning. I have more restaurant coupons for us, will have ACG coupons left, using his comps for the room as I used mine for one of the rooms for the conference. Total saving in room for the conference by the way is $395.00. Want to try Ellis Island for breakfast at least, will each get a Red card from Wynn, hope for 2 buffets each. Trying to make this the cheapest we have ever done Vegas. Never hesitate to ask for a free buffet or meal comp. Never hurts. There are ways to save money and still have a great time and eat in nice places.
