TR - Excalibur - June 1 - 6, 2008...Fantastic Time
Well, I%26#39;m back...I have a fantabulous time....I%26#39;m seriously depressed now....here%26#39;s my TR:
We had a 7:00am flight out of DCA with a connection in Phoenix. The flight went quite smoothly. We arrived in Las Vegas at about 11:20am. A1 Limosine was waiting by Baggage Claim. There were 9 of us all together. We took the Limo to the Excalibur. They let us out right in front of the entrance closest to the Registration desk. Registration went quite smoothly. Our room was ready, we had a remodeled room in Towere II (with the widescreen TVs)....Tower II is not that close to registration. So we trekked through the casino with our luggage and went up to our room (14254).
When we walked in the room it was extremely clean and laid out well. They don%26#39;t have many TV stations, and the shower doesn%26#39;t have any space for razors, shaving cream, etc. All they have is a place for a bar of soap. The room and the bathroom were spacious and clean....we were very pleased.
We gambled at the Excalibur most of the day...the dealers were nice, the pit bosses nice, but I was a bit upset when I asked for a comp for dinner and the pit boss said I had to go to the card desk. Pit bosses cant give them anymore.
We had a small meal at the Sherwood Cafe....I didn%26#39;t care for it that much. I had the chicken tenders (easy, uh)...not real good, but the steak I had later in the week was delicious.
I can%26#39;t go day by day....to be honest, its all a blur, and I%26#39;m not a big drinker, but we went everywhere....so I%26#39;ll do it this way...and if you have any questions, please feel free to ask me.
Hotel - Excalibur
The hotel was wonderful....we saw a few children, but nothing out of the ordinary. The time share people were bothersome, but I simply ignored them and kept walkin. Check-in was simple and I used the electronic Check-out by Tower II. I didn%26#39;t like that they charged a $1 a day for phone usage, and I never picked up the phone. Not many TV stations...but when do you have time to watch TV.
Casinos - We went everywhere...(Excalibur, MGM, Bellagio, Flamingo, Imperial Palace, NY/NY, Circuscircus, Rio, Palm, Gold Coast, Riviera, Golden Nugget, Fremont, Binions, Planet Hollywood, Luxor, Ballys and Paris)...I think that%26#39;s it.
The best dealers was by far...Ballys....they are so nice and so inviting. I was losing, but had a ball with the dealers. Excalibur was good too.
Best luck was at MGM....I had a nice run at Crazy 4 poker.
Riviera was the quietest I had ever seen. I mean they really are going to have to make some changes to bring people in.....it was ';going out of business'; quiet. That%26#39;s sad, because I really like the atmosphere at Riviera.
Shopping - I didn%26#39;t do any.
Food - I only enjoyed the steak at Sherwood Cafe (Excalibur). The breakfast buffet at the Excalibur was delicious and not too pricey. I also loved the food court at the Excalibur.
We also had dinner at Emeril%26#39;s in MGM...FANTASTIC!!!!. I had the seared sea scallops and they melted in my mouth....its pricey, extremely PRICEY....but well worth it.
Well I guess that%26#39;s about it....I simply loved my vacation. We are going back in January 09. We are going to Hawaii for my job and then will stop back through Vegas for 3 nights....I haven%26#39;t decided where we%26#39;ll stay....
The Excalibur was great, I simply loved it and for those heading to this hotel...if your in the remodeled rooms, I think you%26#39;ll like it too.
Any questions? I%26#39;d be happy to answer.

I also stayed at the Excal in May, had the widescreen room, beds were very comfortable, didn%26#39;t have a back ache once, also didn%26#39;t care for the shower stahls, how is a girl suppose to shave???
while you were there, didn%26#39;t eat at Dick%26#39;s last resort? they had good food and fun
Thanks for the TR Nessa! Glad to hear you had a great trip. I%26#39;ll be at Exalibur in August, I%26#39;m getting so excited!
Did you go to the pools at all?
we are visiting from uk for the first time next week. we are staying at the excalibur and have heard mixed reviews. what are the pools like now.
';The breakfast buffet at the Excalibur was delicious and not too pricey';
This is the first good review I think I%26#39;ve ever read about this Buffet, we head to the Excalibur next week, think I%26#39;ll give it a try for breakfast one morning.
My mother swears by the breakfast buffets at Excalibur. I never got the chance to go in March.
We saw Dicks...but never stopped in (too busy gamblin :D)....however, everyone left with a big smile and these crazy white homemade hats.
The Pool...my H and I had plans on stopping at the pool to check them out, but we never got a chance...I did see a few people on the elevator heading back and talking about how wonderful the pools were.
The Buffet...the breakfast buffet ran about $8.99 per person...which is an excellent fee, especially for the choices...there isn%26#39;t much they don%26#39;t have. It was really good. We never stopped there for dinner or lunch. We did do the Dinner Buffet at Fremont (Downtown).... that was really good.
Another thing....the Excalibur%26#39;s air conditioning is extremely cold....I had a jacket every day. So keep that in mind.
Take the tram from Excal to Mandalay Bay buffet.
Well worth the extra cost
I%26#39;ve just had a week at the Excalibur and found it great! The staff were helpful and prompt - the room (Tower 2) was spacious and the beds - for the little time we spent in them were very comfortable. We only had dinner at the buffet once and found it pretty horrible - the food court was worse! For brekkie we got yoghurt and muffins at the store in the food court and put ice in the ice bucket with the yoghurt. That way we had a cheap brekkie in bed before hitting the streets.
The only thing we didn%26#39;t like about our room was the aircon - it was too noisy. We turned it on very low during the day then turned it off before we went to bed and that got us through the night.
i%26#39;d be happy to stay there again - despite the long walks to get anywhere, but I guess most Las Vegas hotels are like that and the Deuce was great so long as you weren%26#39;t in a hurry!
I also wanted to add that the pillows on the bed were very wimpy....I could have used about 4 pillows to make a normal one....that would be my biggest complaint. The air conditioning is a little noisy, but I could sleep through anything, so it wasn%26#39;t a bother.
The elevators worked wonderfully and while I noticed that the last poster didn%26#39;t like the food court, I did. They had McDonalds, Quiznos, Cold Stone and some other things....I mean, if you don%26#39;t like McDonalds or Quiznos then you won%26#39;t like the food court....but it really has nothing to do with the Excalibur.
