Flamingo Trip Report 6/2 鈥?6/7

This is my 2nd trip to Vegas. Went 10 yrs ago. Solo this trip. Never had a problem anywhere at all in any way being alone.

Surprise, Surprise, the taxi cab driver ASKED ME which way, tunnel or no tunnel. I could not believe it. I said no tunnel and thanks for asking.

Check in was long, 30 minutes at least. I got a great room, everything I asked for. 26th floor, strip view. Deluxe room, comfy bed, clean. Maid was great.

I liked the layout of the hotel. Easy to navigate, not to big.

Went to the lagoon pool one day, they did check for room keys. Pool was way too crowded for my liking but I knew what to expect and I could have moved to another pool.

Buffet was horrible as everyone has told me but I ate there due to lack of time and out of convenience. Caf茅 there was ok, not great. Margaritaville was ok. I dropped the ball with my meals on this trip.

Best meal I had was dinner buffet at Bellagio. Everything was great.

Saw Le Reve, Folies Bergere, and Phantom. Liked them in the same order.

Went to just about every casino on the strip.

I also went to Grand Canyon, Gondola Ride, Eiffel Tower, Carnival in the Sky, Dolphin Habitat at Mirage was Excellent.

Carnival Court was a blast.

Lastly I went to the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Nevada sign.

I did so much in 5 days it was great, non-stop action packed.

sounds like you did a lot, being by your self sounds good, you don%26#39;t have to worry about pleasing any one and you can do what you want when you want, I went with someone in May and it was kind of boring, she didn%26#39;t want to do things I wanted to, thinking about doing my next trip solo.

Question about your room. Did it appear to have been recently renovated, or was it an older room that was in good condition? I am trying to understand to what extent the deluxe rooms at Flamingo have been renovated.

Wow good TR....I stayed at the Bird in February and my trip review was not good...glad you had a good experience though!

Patty, What tour group did you use for Grand Canyon, and how was it? Sounds like you had a great time.

Stratton, When I asked for a newly renovated deluxe room, the girl at the desk said that all the rooms had been renovated. However, this is what the room was like - the bed was awsome, very, very comfortable but the sheets and bedspread was torn and ripped. The rug had burn marks on it, the chair was old and dirty. The tv was old but worked just fine. Basically everything looked older in the room but the bed may have been new. The bathroom was clean, not modern but not old either. Hope this helps. I did not mind the room becasue I just slept, and showered there. I did have a terrific strip view.

I used www.lasvegasgrandcanyontour.com I did a 7 1/2 hr trip to the South rim for $240.00 5:20 am pickup, bus to small airport, left airport at 7:00 40 min flight to AZ 2 stops at look out points.

Back to hotel at noon time. Good trip but limited time at the lookout points. 25 min at first and 45 at second stop. But just enough if you want to see it in a day.

Thanks for the info. Is the giant Toni Braxton poster on the front of the hotel gone, and did they put up another one in its place?

I think when they say all the rooms have been renovated, they mean at some point since 1947 :)

I am staying there in a couple of weeks, and for myself, I could care less about the TV or the view, but I want a room that is very clean and where everything works properly. Based on your description, it sounds like whatever renovations they are doing on the deluxe rooms are not necessarily being done from the top down, so I guess I won%26#39;t bother to ask for a higher floor.

The Toni Braxton picture is still there. The store that sells just her items are marked down so much some things are 70% off. (I thought that was funny) they just want to get rid of it. Depending on which section of the hotel you are in, the Toni B picture may obscure your window view. I noticed the top few floors where I was did not have an obstructed view. So I thought the higher floor was better. The rooms were probably remodeled in the 80%26#39;s :) I really liked the place and would definately stay there again. Hope you have a good time. thanks for you review patty, i%26#39;ll be staying there the first week of july in a go strip view room. starting to get a little antsy from some of the reviews. yours makes me feel a lot better.
