Where to find best room prices?

I keep reading posts about how people are seeing fantastic rates for rooms in various hotels - wjere on earth do you find these?

Do you just go direct with the hotel website or am i missing something?

We are heading back to Vegas in 2009 - a while to wait i know, and would obviously like to save money on rooms so we can spend more whilst enjoying ourselves!! :)

I know it might not be quite the same if i%26#39;m booking from outside the USA but any advice would be great.

Thanks in advance

It%26#39;s possible that some of the rates you%26#39;re reading about are what posters have received from casino management as a result of past gambling history.

But the current economic climate means there%26#39;s lots of great deals for everybody at the moment, especially at this time of the year when the heat keeps the big conventions out of town.

Sign up on hotels%26#39; websites for email updates of promotions and check out this link for great info:

Still WAY too early for promotions for next year though...... :-)

check out this site. they may not have any info yet for 2009, but the best thing to do is book now directly with the hotels %26amp; keep checking back to see if the price drops.

haha, blagger is too fast.

Thanks so much for that - never seen that site before.

When you say book now and see if the price goes down, do you mean once i%26#39;ve booked my room (won%26#39;t be until 2009 tho) i can approach the hotel and ask them to alter the room rate if i find it cheaper? Am a bit confused (and it doesn%26#39;t take much!! )

yes, if you book with a hotel and the rates go down, you can either ask them to honor the new rate or just cancel and rebook the reservation. as long as you cancel your reservation 48-72 hours in advance, they don%26#39;t charge you. its a good way to lock in a rate early just in case it rises and you can always change it if it drops.

Thank you so, so much everyone for the above info. I shall be checking hotel prices on a daily basis now!! What has TA started :)

Yes, if you book directly with the hotel, %26amp; if you see that the price has drop, just give them a call %26amp; tell them the rate that you saw %26amp; they%26#39;ll give you the rate that you saw wherever. Also if you see a better deal at another hotel, you can book with them %26amp; cancel the one that you have. You have up to 72 hrs prior to arrival to cancel without a penalty so that is why it%26#39;s better to book directly with the hotel.

Here are a couple of website to check out for great rates in Vegas

www.smartervegas.com

or Harrah%26#39;s for Hot Deals or Stay %26amp; Play packages

www.harrahs.com

on top click on LV then on hotels to see their hot deals by clicking on hot deals on the left hand side. Also you can go to Hotel overview %26amp; put your dates in to see rates for the time you are planning on or for the whole month to see the better rate %26amp; time to go.

I just had a reservation at the Strat, which was already really inepensive, changed because the Strat (on their website) says they will match other on line advertised prices. I saw that Expedia had a 24 hour sale on the strat for $29 weeknights in August. I called them, told them about the Expedia rate and they gladly matched it.
