plane or helicopter over grand canyon?

which is better?

plane or helicopter over grand canyon?

Drive to North or South Rim and spend a night there.

This is the only true way to experience GC in all its glory and majesty. You%26#39;re coming all the way from England - don%26#39;t waste a great opportunity to fully appreciate one of the world%26#39;s natural wonders by just taking a day trip.

plane or helicopter over grand canyon?

do they do trips there coz we wont be driving.

on buses i meant

Helicopters are able to fly into the canyon itself, and indeed some helicopter trips actually land in the bottom of the canyon.

For this reason they tend to fly lower over the canyon than planes, so you%26#39;ll get a better close up view but arguably not as panoramic a view as you would in a plane.

The view from a plane however is generally restricted to what you can see out of the window on the side of the plane your seated on. There%26#39;s no fixed wing to obscure the view in a chopper.

Downside is that they are usually a deal more expensive than plane flights.

We%26#39;ve done it both ways and the helicopter beats the fixed wing flight by a country mile.

It has to be the helicopter ride.

jamborino is somewhat mistaken. The helicopter flights that depart from Las Vegas do not fly all the way to the Grand Canyon Nat%26#39;l Park. And no flights are permitted to land inside the canyon. Those that do advertise that they land in the canyon or on the river are actually well to the west and south of the Grand Canyon. This is not the Grand Canyon that you have seen in pictures and books all your life, and what you would want to come to see on your visit to the USA.

There are bus tours that go to the GCNP aka the South Rim, and there are fixed wing flight tours that go to the airport there. The drive takes 5 hours. It would be well worth your time to arrange to go and spend at least one night inside the GCNP and see the real Grand Canyon.

Do not be deceived by trips that offer to take you to the West Rim or Grand Canyon West. Accept nothing other than the South Rim or the GCNP. It will be worth the extra time, and you%26#39;ll probably save money as well. The indians and foreign developers at Grand Canyon West are charging outrageous fees for a their rip off attraction including the %26#39;skywalk%26#39; and a light weight float trip on the river.

And yes, you can do a helicopter flight above the GCNP from the Grand Canyon Airport at Tusayan which is just a few miles outside of the park gate.

Redrox, I stand corrected. Thanks for the clarification.
