casinos without hotels

I have been reading through the topics here for awhile and I noticed the slots of fun question and now I have a question. Are there several casinos in Vegas that are not connected to the hotels? And are they listed anyhwere that I might could research them?

casinos without hotels

the only one that i can think of on the main strip is o%26#39;sheas. i know there are smaller ones around town, but i think that%26#39;s in for the strip.

O%26#39;Sheas is the BEST non hotel casino near center strip....check that one out

the non hotel casinos are more common in Downtown Vegas for sure.

La Bayou and Mermaids are both hotel free.

While not having rooms in the same building...

O%26#39;Shea%26#39;s has always been a part of the Flamingo complex. They had to build a huge new parking garage for employees and over-flow hotel/casino guests.

They merely turned the ground and mezzanine Strip--fronting floor space into a mini-casino because it offered a better return than retail would have.

Slots-a-Fun is an independant, free-standing casino though it is/was considered loosely-related to Circus Circus; which if I recall correctly was also built originally as a free-standing casino before rooms were subsequently added.

I%26#39;d say O%26#39;Sheas is the only one that is really convenient to get to. However, this is the home of the infamous 4-hand Carol. I watched this dealer on two separate occasions get 4 blackjacks in a row.I implore you, do not sit a bj table at O%26#39;Sheas with a dealer named Carol...you have been warned.

Slots of Fun is owned by Mgm mirage but for some reason the slots of fun is on the circus circus players club, not mgm.

There was Silver City- the only non-smoking casino in Vegas. You could get free popcorn all day and a chance to win a truck once a day. I won a deck of cards after trying about six zillion times. It was dumpy but fun.

Mtroh...

MGM Mirage owns the ';equity securities'; underlying the Slots A Fun facility, but it does not operate the joint. Kind of like a fee land/bldg owner who leases space to a tenant operator in return for a percentage of the take.

This way they can maintain control of the site pending long-term redevelopment and generate some cash flow without dirtying their hands with such an inconsequential place.

You%26#39;ll note it is not listed as an MGM Mirage hotel or casino on their website.

I am trying to figure out why it is relevant whether a casino is connected to a hotel?????

Does it matter why its relevant? We are staying downtown 3 nights and on the strip for 2 and I wanted to know because I did not want to miss someplace I might want to go just because it isn%26#39;t in some tour guide like the hotel casinos are. Mostly, I was just curious since the slots of fun quesiton came up if there were many of these kinds of places. Seemed like they might be fun.
