Vegas in January

Hi folks!

So this is the score.................

My Wife %26amp; I usually visit Vegas every year in either April or October.

In January it%26#39;s her 40th birthday %26amp; I am planning to surprise her with an extra trip %26amp; tickets to see her idol - Cher!

What%26#39;s it like in January (apart from the obvious COLD weather)? When will the January dates for Cher be released?

We are never interested in the sun anyway, just drinking, gambling, eating %26amp; shopping etc etc etc!

Any suggestion %26amp; comments would be appreciated.

thanks

Dave

There%26#39;s no guarantee that Cher will be appearing in January. The current Caesars Colosseum schedule ends at the end of December when a run of Bette Midler shows comes to a close. Either Cher or Elton John will take over but just which of them probably won%26#39;t be confirmed for a couple of months or so.

You don%26#39;t say just when in January your wife%26#39;s birthday is but be aware that CES (one of the year%26#39;s biggest conventions) takes place January 8-11 next year. For a couple of days either side of these dates hotel rates will be extremely high (some places sell out well in advance) and everywhere in Vegas incredibly busy.

Thanks blagger...........

We are looking to go on the 11th January for 1 week so hopefully the rooms will be a lot quieter after then!

My only concern was ';dark shows'; %26amp; attractions closed as it%26#39;s out of season - does anyone travel to Vegas in January??????

Thanks

Dave

I have been to Vegas in January. I don%26#39;t remember a lot of shows being dark then - January is not considered ';offseason'; because of the conventions.

It%26#39;s really nice to be able to walk up and down the Strip without having to deal with the heat.

We%26#39;ve gone several times in January, usually around the last week. We love the weather (50-60%26#39;s) compared to what we have in Michigan (0-20F). It%26#39;s a great winter break for us. We%26#39;ve never noticed a lot of shows being dark at that time, and since we go after CES/before Superbowl we generally find really good rates.

We usually go before CES, the 1st part of Jan. I believe the shows are dark during the last part of Dec. but not in Jan. Sometime the weather is cool %26amp; sometimes it is very nice. I have even been to the pool laying out during the day which is nice since it isn%26#39;t crowded so you can relax out in the sun. There is always lots of people but not overly crowded which is also very nice, no long line or problems getting reservation to your favorite restaurant, or show. You can get great rates during this time %26amp; stay at the luxurious hotel very reasonable.

January is great weather in Vegas.

Try to avoid CES AND the porn convention. Usually they%26#39;re around the same time... umm...and it%26#39;s usually very close to your date.

Most shows are open as others have said.

October 5th is the last day I see for Cher, so the rotation between Bette and Elton might work in your favor there.

CES is 1/8 through 1/11 as per Las Vegas Advisor.
