Slot History Question

Random question for the day: Why did/still do slot machines use the number 7 as the primary winning number? How did the #7 come about? Why not #8 or #1? just curious...

Slot History Question

I would presume it%26#39;s because the number 7 is traditionally considered lucky in English speaking cultures.

Slot History Question

that%26#39;s a good theory...

There are probably at least seven good explanations...

But I would go with the number seven being of mystical significance in Judeo-Christian belief system. Often designating completeness or in some cases perfection.

Seven days of creation, seven churches and seven seals in Revelations, seven deadly sins, seven sacrements, etc.

Amberloo is probably on the right track. The number 7 repeats in so many areas - 7 seas, 7 days in a week, - 7 wonders of the world - 7 bottles of rum on a dead man%26#39;s chest (okay, that last one was for laughs). I%26#39;m sure there are many more examples, but I%26#39;m running out of time.
